Its a fun way to meet people on both ends of the equation - either looking for a place to stay or hosting! I'm now in a position to host and am looking forward to it! I also like the financial benefit of having a free place to stay in a new place, so I understand if you are visiting and want to do your own thing :)

I am an open minded individual and have a wide array of interests in all of these categories. Have to say my favorite movie is probably 'The Big Lebowski' and I love memoirs when it comes to reading.
