ABOUT ME

I was born in England 32 years ago and I am currently teaching Design and Technology/Physical Education in Shanghai, China. I have led a pretty varied life up to this point and the plan is to continue that way!

I grew up in Leicester in the UK and since have lived in Thailand, Spain and China and love to travel.

I am open-minded, easy going and love to meet new people and learn new things. I love to travel to new places and eat new things and meet new people, and combining these things is my favourite thing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't used this site before but a friend here in China uses it and so I have met some interesting people who stay with him, so thought I would give it a try. I hope to meet new people and share my experiences with them and learn from others.

Interests

I love sport, all kinds, particularly cycling, football and rugby. I love to read, listen to music and meet new people and visit new places. I am generally interested in most things and love trying new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hard to say, I have an eclectic taste in everything from books and movies to food and people :).

For music it generally depends on my mood, but for example my latest playlist includes dead can dance, lil wayne, leonard cohen, the smiths, odesza, pearl jam and pink flloyd!

Movies are the same as music, but some of my favourites are in bruges, dumb and dumber, shawshank redemption, good will hunting, the lion king....

Books is a difficult one, my favourite author is Hermann Hesse and I would say, if pushed Siddartha. I like Orwell, Dickens and some of the classics as well as too may other random fiction and non fiction books to name.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My sister decided to get married abroad, so my brother and I decided to cycle there and back! In the end we spent 4 months cycling around Europe, covering 4000 miles in this time and going through 8 different countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a qualified English and Design Technology teacher and I can speak Spanish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have 5 years teaching English experience and now teach Design Tech and Physical education and more than happy to with anything to do with these.

I learnt Spanish while living in Spain and would be very happy for any language exchanges or to help in any way I can.

Also I like to use my hands and am quite handy with building and making things too :).

I am very easy going so if I can help with anything I will usually say yes!
