About Me

I am a 36 year old male who grew up in California but now lives in Massachusetts. I work for my local public middle school in special education helping kids with disabilities. I also have a license to teach English in public middle and high schools.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I looked at a number of different options for travel and thought Couchsurfing looked the best. I am interested in traveling to learn about people and different cultures. I am less interested in luxury travel and commercial tourism and prefer to learn about genuine life in foreign countries.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I am huge fan of many different kinds of music. I love jazz and 80's popular music from the U.S.

Movies:
I don't watch very many movies, but I do have a few favorites mostly from the U.S.. I love comedy and some drama: Juno, Sidways, Lost in Translation, Back To the Future, Garden State, My Neighbor Totoro, Minority Report, Blade Runner, George Carlin, Steve Martin, Bill Murray

Books:
I went to college to study literature, so I have a few authors I like: Ernest Hemingway, Kenzaburo Oe (A Personal Matter), Cormac McCarthy, to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a solitary road trip across the entire continental United States. It was great fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

English language, Japanese language and culture, United States' culture, music. I am most interested in hosts who will spend some time with me. I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I want to get to know you and want to learn something about your culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Kindness, good listening, help doing chores, company
