About Me

I'm a young professional (I use the term loosely) who just returned to Ottawa after a year away in Asia and Europe. When I'm not traveling at every opportunity I work as an Electrical Engineer in an attempt to become accustomed to "real life" and to fund my next adventure. Around Ottawa I like to get outside and explore the bike paths around the city, enjoy some of our fine pubs and craft beer (or cheap beer if it's going to be a thirsty night), head up to Gatineau Park for a hike, and experience some fantastic outdoor music festivals.

I have an apartment in Ottawa. It's not much space, but I could easily host one or two couch surfers in my living room. My couch is exceptionally comfy (it's my favorite nap spot) and I have an inflatable mattress that is a whole lot softer than the hardwood floor.

My blog, which I've sadly been neglecting lately

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to this! I've only ever backpacked and stayed in hostels, but I want to get to know travelers from all over the world and hear their stories

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots of Canadian indie music - The Weakerthans, Dan Mangan, Hey Rosetta

TV Shows - I'm not much of a movie guy. I much prefer TV shows. Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, Parks and Rec, and Archer are probably my top favorites right now

Books - A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) and anything by Bill Bryson

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee jumping in New Zealand. Exploring cave cities in Turkey. Skydiving in Gananoque, Ontario. Do I have to pick one?

Teach, Learn, Share

I know all sorts of stuff about technology, computers, and gadgets. My background is in Engineering, so I know a bit of math and science too, but who wants to learn about that?

I'm a bit of a fitness nut, so I know all sorts of stuff about strength training, long-distance running, and swimming. I'm sort of a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to fitness, so I'm not exactly an expert on any of those, but I've spent some time doing all of them.

I'm an amateur photographer and love to practice my skills while I travel. I have a good base knowledge, but I'm always trying to learn more, especially from people who have a lot of experience
