About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a mix of things. A mix of ethnicities and cultural values. A mix of education and work experience. A mix of travelling and living experiences.
In our high school year book, I wrote "to have fun" as my life ambition, and I think that's carried through with a lot of what I do. That's not to say I'm a party animal or not serious in being serious, but I think having a laugh and feeling pleasant emotions adds so much to life.
For the 18 months prior to 2014, I lived and studied in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, at the Rotterdam School of Management. In that time, I managed to travel to a fair chunk of the main European places people go (and some foreigners often don't). I now live in Durham, NC, studying on exchange at Duke university.
PHILOSOPHY
I am a big fan of continuous improvement. Having this enables you to make your life better overall and in specific areas. I also highly value integrity, meaning that I keep my word and deliver on promises (and if I can't, I feel bad, and try and work something out in as far advance as possible). Additionally, I like trying new things and gaining new experiences - I think pushing the boundaries really adds to who you are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
After travelling to many places in Europe, I started enjoying the hostel experience perhaps even more than the local sight-seeing and cultural experiences. Human connection is important to me.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None... yet. But I've heard a lot of (good) things about it and wanted to try!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Generally I like mainstream, action movies these days. Not sure why - I think it gives me a chance to switch off and become absorbed in something. Previously I've liked movies that have given me greater perspective on life and existence (The Matrix, Memento, The Truman Show etc), although I still do value their effect on my life.
Music: Big fan of prog rock, favourite band is Dream Theater, closely followed by Tool. Other worthy mentions include Ayreon (Arjen Lucassen), The Dear Hunter, Gazpacho, Symphony X and others. But I also listen to a bit of house and more so electro house.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
