About Me
I grew up in Washington State in the USA, but Boise, Idaho is currently my home. I enjoy meeting new people and spending time in good company. I am a family physician. I try to get out in the outdoors as much as possible by running, cycling, hiking, backpacking, and climbing. I also like to travel and write. I'm married to a wonderful woman named Lindsey. We have a dog named "Chicha."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Shortly after graduating from college I hopped on a bicycle and pedaled from Seattle to New York City. Over the course of those two months I was shown incredible hospitality from a diverse array of people. Their stories enriched my existence far more than I could every repay. I'm on couchsurfing for much the same reason--to connect with the local side of the places I visit, meet new people, and offer the same to visitors of my place of residence (the last part is going to come once I actually have a place to call my own--currently I am moving around cities on school rotations and do not have a permanent place of residence. The travails of medical school...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I rode my bicycle from Seattle to New York City, a journey of some 4,400 miles that I covered in two months. Aside from some wicked-awesome tan lines, I gained an appreciation for many different regions of my country I had not previously known. After the trip I wrote a book about the adventure, taught myself how to publish online, and listed my project online under the title "Squeaky Wheels: the non-friction adventure from sea to shining sea."
