About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Mission tonight- eat chips and salsa to the brink of destruction. Then teeter on the brink until there's room for ice cream.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Scott. I'm from Michigan.
I like organic farming and I like people. I love cultures and languages and strange foods. Late nights are my comfort and long conversations are easy as sliding around on wood floors in wooly socks. I live in community with a family. We are an "intentional" community but also farmers, so kinda busy.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind to others. They might not do anything to deserve it, in fact often just the opposite. But everybody needs more kindness and a little grace.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly as a surfer these last few years.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfed in Traverse City and Paris. I traveled with 4 others to Traverse City, MI. They made us chocochip pancakes for bfast. We cleaned their carpet (out of kindness and thankfulness, not spills).
Paris was lovely also-- lots of shared wine and meals, also a bit of housecleaning. :)
Interests
Gardening and hanging out with my housemates. They're the best. Music making comes in the off season. Long chats about sustainability, identity, creation, princess mononoke, and living well are the norm for my friends and I. Also, climbing trees, banana bread, talking about trying to get more sleep.

Music, Movies, and Books
Wendell Berry, Edward Abbey, Eliot Coleman, Henri Nouwen, David James Duncan
Folksy independent artists, you know the ones.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting caught in a wave and looking down that tube of crashing water as a child. Lake Michigan always in my soul.
Climbing up to a glacier in Nepal with my buddy Ramesh. Astounding memory in an amazing land.
That's two things.
Teach, Learn, Share
Knowledge about refugees' experiences of coming to the US and small scale agriculture. I'm well versed in Nepali and Chilean cultures. Lots of thoughts about sustainability, justice, identity, community living, cultural critique, subversive living.
I love to teach gardening and cooking. I'm not professionally trained, but I do both a lot. And I love to do both for/with others.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Happy conversation, herbal teas (seriously, I grow medicinal herbs), a beer, introspection, I would happily cook for you, gardening tips, no B.S, encouragement, a smile and singing.
