About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To try our best to leave the world improved in some way by our existence. Oh, and to see the whole wide world, or at least a decent chunk of it.
ABOUT ME
In 2013, we spent about three months backpacking around France, Spain, the UK, and Ireland, and then capped off the trip with a random Caribbean cruise. People often told us, "That's the trip of a lifetime!" We certainly hope not. It was a great time, don't get me wrong, but we don't plan on making that our one big adventure. Though we haven't done much traveling in the past year, we certainly hope to do more soon.
PHILOSOPHY
Faith, hope, and love.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We haven't been able to host much in the past year, and our couchsurfing profile/response rate got a bit out of date, but we may be able to take some guests now and will as much as we're able.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We hosted a bit in 2013 and then stayed with a couple kind folks on our grand European adventure.
Interests
We like to read books, ride bikes, take long walks and hikes, watch old movies, listen to good music, make and eat good food, make and drink good beer, and go on adventures.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: assorted Steinbeck, C.S. Lewis, "The Long NIght of Francisco Sanctis," "The City of Beautiful Nonsense," assorted plays of Shakespeare, the poems of Wislawa Szymborska, and lots of others
Music: lots of Sufjan Stevens (Katie), lots of the Cure (Scott), and lots of other things (both of us)
Movies: currently, mostly old ones we pick up from the library, with the occasional second-run item at a pub theater in town
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We walked the Camino de Santiago (Frances route, from St. Jean Pied-du-Port) in 2014. Met some amazing people, loved being outside all day long every day in every type of weather, and didn't even get too many blisters.
Teach, Learn, Share
We (mostly Scott) know some things about baking (especially bread, but also pastry) and grammar (mostly Katie, English), and we're always happy to share and to learn more from others.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, Canada, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Saint Martin (French part), Sint Maarten (Dutch part), Spain, Thailand, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom, United States, Virgin Islands, U.S.
