About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meditate of the mysteries of the world one day at a time.

ABOUT ME

I founded the 'Colfax Barbarians' ski team in 2004-2005. I enjoy cycling and drinking herbal tea. My ambitions for the next two years entail in-depth study of the German language as well as Lutheran Theology.

Last summer, I served as a vicar in beautiful Worden and Carpenter, Illinois. I had much time to contemplate there as well as edit the Lutheran Missal.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life simultaneously saint and sinnner. I approach each day as if it were the beginning of the reset of my life, I see my life and interactions with others within their cosmic context.

Being away from home, I also spend a lot of time thinking about home...the smells of the wood stove, Christmas at grandma's, and skiing through the woods.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just begun my couch surfing experience and am looking for ways to explore Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to the Couch Surfing World.

Interests

Cycling, Singing, Praying. When I am tired of exercising, a good book never fails to disappoint me...right now I am reading Schlingensiepen's Biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite Books: The Gunslinger, Far from the Madding Crowd, and Discourses in Matthew.

Movies: I generally avoid them in favour of reading, but Donnie Darko, A River Runs Through it, and A Serious Man all come with my recommendation.

Music: Bach's music consistently is played through my speakers. It is augmented by alternative rock (Nada Surf, Iron and Wine), pop rock (James Blunt), and folk (Bob Dylan, Warren Nelson).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When in college, I studied Killer Whales in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State (USA). I ended up writing some really nice poetry about the experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I my opinion, this life is best lived in a spirit of humility and repentance. It is this spirit that is needed in every place and generation. I really like studying language and psychology, it is our soul and our words that clearly demarcate our humanity. I am proud to be human and feel a strong bond to all others who are likewise co-habitants of this planet.
