About Me

CURRENT MISSION: Prepare for a 6-week trek across Europa :D

ABOUT ME

I've got >50 Nat. Geographic maps plastered across my walls, and I'm liable to cry at a beautiful city skyline. I can't get enough of fried salami/pickle sandwiches and the original Star Wars movies. Doctoral student in Environmental Engineering at UC-Berkeley since Fall 2013. Generally cannot host at my current residence in due to roommate's living desires, but excited to open up a future residence for hosting soon!

PHILOSOPHY

No night should be bereft of either good cheese, good wine, a view of the stars, friends, or my main squeeze. Most preferably it would contain all of the above.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING: I am traveling to meet others, and then someday soon hosting visitors to San Francisco at my home in Berkeley. Everywhere is beautiful, and I want to continually build the couchsurfing community with exuberant friendliness where-ever I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed across the southern, southwestern, and western US. Every experience I was welcomed with open arms. From unique juicing concoctions in the morning in Houston to four-day romps on the town with our host in NOLA to late night star gazing in the dry creek beds of New Mexico, I've had the most marvelous time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've had my Symphonic Metal days, my dive into Eminem, and my dancing years with Swedish Europop. I'm often right at home listening to Mika or the Gorillaz, and I never grow tired of Frankie Valli and his 4 Seasons nor Daft Punk.

Recently saw this movie called Demolition Man and played the associated pinball game. It's a MUST SEE when you have time to collect your friends in your living room. Otherwise, I am honestly a forever huge Star Wars and LOTR dork. Currently watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and balancing out this childhood throwback with some American Horror Story action.

This summer is a dedication to Sci-Fi (Asimov!) and philosophy (Goedel, Escher, Bach), with a potential alternate history novel thrown in there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a 3-week trip to New Zealand, I ditched out of a 15-person group trekking near Christchurch. I clambered for ten minutes up a steep hillside until I entered onto a breezy, grassy plateau, upon which an un-watched sheep herd was grazing. Although (very!) dangerous to do, I chased those sheep around for a few minutes. Never have I felt more alive.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have an ocarina. I don't know it very well, but I want to learn Greensleeves soon...

I can flip a sandwich like a dog can roll on its back.

Want to learn about bizarre geographical/historical facts? Heard of the Tuvan People's Republic, which existed for 23 years in the early 1900s but was only recognized by the Soviet Union and Mongolia?

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, France, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Uganda, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
