Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learn as much as I can about people and about the world and try to make it a better place.
ABOUT ME
I'm a down-to-earth university professor who enjoys meeting new people and engaging in new experiences. I consider myself open-minded and love learning about new things. I am passionate about equity, democracy, and justice. I have taught people of all ages and a variety of subjects, from early literacy to sustainable economics to making communities safer for women and girls. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, backpacking, bicycling, and the outdoors, as well as studio and performing arts. I also enjoy gardening, dancing, practicing my Spanish, and spoken word poetry. Not a big partier.
I have a modest-sized apartment in a quiet neighborhood. There are two cats in the house, so if you are allergic, you should stay elsewhere. I have a drug and alcohol free home, but Atlanta is full of bars.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in treating others fairly and with compassion. I want the things I do in life to contribute to the common good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a third grade teacher, I was honored on national television as a CNN Hero for engaging my students in an effort to protect affordable housing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help by teaching computer stuff, effective pedagogy and training/instructional design, public speaking, research methods, or vegetarian/vegan cooking. I would love to learn more Spanish, cooking ideas, ways to travel frugally, and anything else you might know about. I am interested in sharing stories and experiences, from the mundane to the theoretical.
What I Can Share with Hosts
When I stay, I clean up after myself. I am happy to share food and cook. People say they really like my cooking.
