About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never look back and say "I wish I had..."

ABOUT ME

Lover of all things outdoors; climbing (rock and ice), trail running, cycling (road and mountain), backpacking, etc.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life hard and fast but don't forget to stop and smell the roses. No excuses, make it happen or stop talking about it! Get up early and run, then work more than you should, and do it again. Cultivate a beginners mindset, never pretend to be an expert, try and get beyond your ego.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

An awesome experience in Canmore, AB; just getting my feet wet.

Interests

Rock Climbing, alpinism, ice-climbing, backpacking; everything outdoors. I love cinema; everything from dumb comedies to art-films. Photography, saving the world, yerba mate... Running - ultrarunning, trying to get fast, trying to run far. Cycling, touring, commuting. Trying to find the meaning of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Monkey Wrench Gang, Desert Solitaire (Edward Abbey). Those two resonate with me very much right now. Eat and Run (Scott Jurek). Hunter S. Thompson fan, Jack Kerouac, all the beatniks, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rode my bike from Lake Tahoe to Gunnison, CO (1,200 miles) in 11 days. Worked as a Wilderness Ranger for the United States Forest Service and even rode dirt-bikes for a living for the same employer. I've spent hundreds of days and nights by myself in the woods. I've ran 40 miles in one outing, the day after I ran 31. I climb on ice, snow, rock, and other things that resemble rock but on closer inspection are more like loosely consolidated sand.

I'm very happy when I'm outside.

Teach, Learn, Share

Want to learn about rock climbing? Ultralight Backpacking? How to poop in the woods using anything as TP and still want to go back? Never learned how to eat like a fat kid? I can teach you these things! Moving through pain, both physical and otherwise.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and company. There's a wonderful pub nearby,

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, Taiwan
