About Me

CURRENT MISSION:
I just want to meet people and make friends! I'll be on a whirlwind trip around the mediterranean soon, and I want to gain some insight into all the different places and have a little bit of fun with anybody looking for something to do. If I have a tangible main goal it's to pick up some more Portuguese and French than I left the US with (and more Spanish as always), other than that I just want to make some good memories and have fun galore.

ABOUT ME
I'm generally pretty goofy, but since I've had a lot of practice over the years with getting out of my comfort zone, I can also put on a serious face when the need arises. I get along with pretty much everyone, but definitely prefer my people to be more open-minded and moderate even in their moderation. For those that care/know about Meyers-Briggs personality type stuff, I'm an INFP, but lighter on the I and F parts. I really enjoy learning about the hard sciences, but as time goes on I have become more curious about understanding the weird science that takes place within and between the hearts of people. I continuously try to be understanding. I've been trying to meditate and create more, so far with mixed results because of my very busy schedule with grad school.

PHILOSOPHY
Work in progress, but generally try to live by the golden rule, try hard to be aware of your effects on others, understand that nobody is perfect. Sometimes it helps to think of adults as just grown-up children. Question your preconceptions and surroundings.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-
I'm just going to keep it simple and say that I really like music. A LOT. I spent a huuuge portion of my youth chasing down fresh new sounds, it was like a drug for me. My main fix I guess would be Indie Rock, whatever that means these days (animal collective? Beirut? Micachu? Le Loup? Explosions in the Sky? Julianna Barwick? Vampire Weekend/Rostam? there's waay too many to name and I just have had to stop updating these old names at this point) , but I've also got a big soft spot for Cumbia and Latin music in general, also stuff like Tabu Ley Rochereau, Gilberto Gil, old Bob Dylan, Motown, Quality country - ie. probably not from Nashville, love the hell out of some good jazz drumming, can appreciate a good pop song and hip hop if the beat's right and words are saying something i havent heard before, pretty much you name it.

movies- big sucker for wes anderson. I like to laugh, I like to feel the feels, I like to have my mind blown.

books- about 10 half finished ones... will have a better section for this once i get more leisure time again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved several places without knowing any/many people. Overall I feel incredibly lucky with all i've seen and done- but, off the top of my head i got into a (fake-i'm pretty sure) high stakes poker game with some strangers in vietnam (and got away with all my money) and drove mopeds on a uruguayan highway in the rain with no lights and a best friend, taking turns at random until we were someplace completely unintentional but just right.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have so many interests and skills but most of them aren't FULLY developed, but I can still teach a thing or two about- spanish, building construction, history/geography/cultures, medicine, biology and some other scientific disciplines. I basically used to watch a lot of Jeopardy so I'm full of random pieces of information. I will be willing to learn absolutely anything...
