About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life has many interesting pit stops. Mine is one of them.

ABOUT ME

54 Divorced. Spoiled with the best 5 kids in the world. A twin (twelve minutes older than Jim) Very healthy. Very content. I see the world as one big cartoon strip in the process of being colored in.

PHILOSOPHY

As a believer in God, I feel compelled to help a stranger and possibly turn them into a friend. I'm not going to preach at you since I am not beholden to any particular religion. Actions speak way louder. I live by what I call a Rocking Chair Philosophy. It goes like this: When I am 94 years old (still 40 years to go) and sitting on my porch in my rocking chair, I will be thinking about all the great things I have done, not about the things I wish I did. I will smile thinking about all the people I have loved, not about the people I have shunned. Then I'll get up from the chair and go for a run before coming back to work on my next project.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am all about community and people meeting new people and different cultures. Couch surfing appears to be an excellent way for free spirited people to connect some dots in our disjointed society. With the advent of screen doors, air conditioners and TV (boo!), people have holed themselves up for the last 40 years. It's time to get out and mix it up. I want to be one of the way stations in the life of my kids, their friends and whoever else wants to share in the journey.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have traveled across the US several times. I didn't have a lot of couches to use, so I can see the need for couch surfers. My experience has shown me that the majority of Americans are generous, trustworthy and good natured.

I once gave my couch (room actually) to a man and his wife while they tried to get back on their feet. He turned out to be the son of an honest to goodness Mafia don, even though they were estranged. Stay at my place and I'll tell you the whole story.

Interests

Lots of books to read, stories to tell, music to listen to and ideas to share.

Music, Movies, and Books

Go to: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/890837 to read my book list.

Too many artists to list in music and painting.

I do have a top 100 in movies. Sorry Citizen Kane, I put Raiders of the Lost Ark at the top. I'll share the rest when you visit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Frank Sinatra would sing about my life (to the tune of That's Life):

I've been a comic, an artist, a writer, a poet, a cook and a clown
I've been up and down and over and out and all over town
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach any person how to enjoy themselves and others more; how to expand their thinking; how to abandon their prejudices, instill hope into their future, and make the best damn peanut butter and jelly sandwich on the planet.
