About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The big overseas trip! My wife Kelly and I are spending six months on the road through Asia, Europe and Africa before heading home to face reality (and our dogs who we are missing!)

ABOUT ME

I'm a laid back, friendly, practical and funny guy. I'm from New Zealand and have lived in Chile, Australia & Canada but now call Christchurch NZ home. Kelly is fun, easy going and a good dancer. She works as a botanist doing conservation work and is one of the lucky few who can say she loves her job. She lived in France for a year as an au pair but it's been 11 years since her French was tested!

PHILOSOPHY

Make hay while the sun shines.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At present we are using this as a means to meet locals and get a better feel for the destinations and communities we're visiting. We love hosting people at our house back in New Zealand so couch surfing gives us the opportunity to build networks with new friends around the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed through the USA and Canada for a few months in 2013. Have also hosted friends of friends plenty of times without the help of couchsurfing and likewise have spent plenty a night on floors at friends places. It's pretty much the kiwi way!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Student exchange to Chile for a year in 2005

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm able to teach about geology, landscapes, New Zealand and it's culture, and also Spanish as I spent a year in Chile.

Keen on all things nature based and like picking up phrases from other languages.

Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Niue, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Uruguay, Viet Nam
