ABOUT ME

*Favourite colour: sky-green*

I want to taste the local in the global kitchen!
This is a metaphor I can eat, too :)

For a living, I tell stories - that actually pays my rent. It's a vocation in all four meanings of the word!
I write the scripts for a TV show for kids, whereby I’ve learned amazing facts, such as:

1: "Donald Duck was banned in Finland, because he doesn't wear any trousers" ?!?
2: "Impossible is nothing - SPAGHETTI can actually grow on trees!!!"
3: "Good news! You can never break your funnybone!!!"

My other job is making movie trailers. It's like “megafast fishing” - you have to catch as much attention (fish) as possible in 30 seconds only!

And here’s another list of things that usually make my day...

Some shortcuts to happiness:
- idiosyncratic people
- uncommon ideas
- simple pleasures
- mental journeys
- tiny inventions
- little wonders
- trashy bars
- colors!!
- cats
- my mom
- fiction worlds
- radio theatre
- unbelievable facts
- fairy tales in theory & practice
- the world of Roberto Benigni
- the imagery of René Magritte
- Banksy's bitter humour
- open-air markets
- music boxes
- balloons!
- in-jokes
- idioms
- handwriting
- serendipity leftovers
- cherry beer & geranium wine
- spontaneity & surprises
- pointillism
- mint & cumin
- puppet theatre
- verbal absurdities & surreal humour
- street parades
- children's libraries
- lanterns & lamps & light
- colored glass
- spices
- Tove Jansson & Gianni Rodari
- chestnut ice cream
- wool dresses
- the sound of church bells
- olives
- fireworks
- rock'n'roll for kids
- rock'n'roll for adults ;)
- strange words (& worlds)
- moments that make you feel special
- long letters
- cafés & coffee
- 2nd hand stuff…
- accidents with happy ends
- the spirit of “dolce far niente”…

More shortcuts to happiness: /the active part /
- doing and learning new things
- finding new friends in impossible places
- dancing underwater
- experimenting
- being 'away with the pixies'
- laughing, but also smiling
- trekking the paths of imagination
- wandering about in pleasingly aimless fashion
- sitting on the ground
- eating with my fingers
- walking barefoot
- observing people
- not believing my eyes
- meeting people that make you click
- creating mini-worlds ...

All these fascinate me.

But most importantly, I love what I do and - so far - that makes me a happy person :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm an absolute beginner...with eyes completely open

Interests

Writing, reading, laughing, exploring, travelling, getting lost, getting amazed, testing life, inventing colours, cooking strange stuff, moving, buying adorably useless things, tasting novelties, searching for streets with funny names that get you nowhere, meeting inspiring chaps, funny people, talking animals and the perfect stranger :)

Intercultural preferences -
Indian/Japanese/Middle Eastern food,
Irish people's hospitality (and beer!;),
Scottish grim fairy tales (and groovy museums),
Italian spirit of freedom (and piazzas, elegantly wasted buildings and ice cream!:),
Tunisian vast landscapes (and tight medinas),
Cyprus' cultural duality (and street flowers),
Gruzian folklore dancing (and hats!:),
Turkish coffee (and Eurasian atmosphere)...
English tea, irony (and humour!)
Spanish wild party mood (and sangria!)
Greek green countryside & Thessaloniki's coastline cafés with a sea-view
French contemporary mood of "liberte egalite fraternite", St. Germaine-des-Pres, the life around Seine, that crazy wooden bridge where all the people sit on & drink at night(and kir!)
Portuguese tiles, warm colours, diversities...
Belgian Magritte, cherry beer and amazingly soul-given & charmingly hidden bars and restaurants

I'll have more when I see more :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Number 1. / Done
Lying on the railways one starry night to take a better look of the sky. The train didn't come, so it was worth it :)

Number 2. / Done
It started as a nice afternoon at a friend's terrace. It ended with creating "A New Theory of the Theatre of Possibilities"! It sounds scary, but it's not - it's a funny game that will cheer up the soul of any party!!! ;)

Number 3. / Seen
Jeravna! An architecturally preserved Bulgarian village with 200 wooden houses built in the period of the Bulgarian Renaissance. Once every year there's a folklore festival, dedicated to traditional Bulgarian way of life - clothes, food, crafts and customs from the past! And here goes the most interesting thing! You must wear a traditional Bulgarian national costume (called "nosia") so they will let you in. It's like a time machine to the past! And what you get is...
2 days of hundreds of people - untypically dressed & living a different life! Awesome! Check the pixx in the Jeravna folder to see what I mean!

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope to share some serendipity moments with the people I meet and to explore the "changeant effects" in people's characters (for none of us is made of one colour only).

Or... if none of these work, I can always teach you how to spell your name in Cyrillic. Here's mine - Виктория! ;)
