About Me

I'm currently sitting on a yoga ball since I had a problem with my chair. If nothing else, it seems to be giving my core a workout.

I tutor anatomy and physiology to college students. I used to be a biologist, and find this sort of thing interesting.

I've traveled a fair bit, but not for a while. I've been to several places in western Europe, and to most of the U.S. (with the exception of the South). I once took a train from California to Connecticut.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend has done quite a bit of couch surfing. This summer, I plan to do a little traveling. I'm hoping to have an experience that is more meaningful than simply staying in a hotel. Also, if I can help others out, I'd be glad to do so.

Interests

I try to walk as much as possible. I love woodworking! I'm into mindfulness meditation, and have been a member of a sangha for quite some time. I like psychology and the guitar. Though I haven't played in some time, I enjoy reading about the actual instrument.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Steinbeck for his portraits of human life.

I like 70's rock music, though I enjoy samples of most genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I regained the ability to walk after an auto accident. If you know what's involved in such an undertaking, you'll realize why I'm listing it here as "amazing".

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm.

All bugs are insects, but not all insects are bugs. Hemiptera, the "true bugs", have sucking mouth parts. Any other insect, though commonly referred to as a bug, actually is technically not.

Solitary wasps such as the Tarantula Hawk are actually quite friendly.

Really, I'm just clutching at straws here...
