About Me

Hello. I'm an aspiring writer and journalist, a lover of cultures and enjoying life through new experiences. I'm an American citizen, but as the son of an immigrant from Germany, who had both German and Spanish roots, I've always prided myself on my international perspective that nurtured me from an early age. I've always been very curious about the world, and that includes the ability to grow through others who can touch our lives in various ways.

I'm still in university, but have been working hard outside my desired field because sometimes one has to make sacrifices to reach our ultimate goals. I'm seeking degrees in Journalism and International Studies, and ultimately see a career as an investigative journalist, and a travelling blogger who tries his hand on many new trades, and perhaps ultimately something related to academia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and experience new things, going off the beaten path and seeking a more authentic experience such that couchsurfing can bring. I have met many amazing people through my travels, and I know through this experience I can meet more. Travelling on a budget as much as possible is also important for me, since this also leaves time to really experience a city outside a strictly "tourist" experience.

Interests

History, cultures, politics, philosophy, spirituality, languages, international football

Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds...depends on my specific mood at the time

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was hosted two weeks on the Pine Ridge Lakota Indian reservation, which was a very eye-opening and humbling experience few non-Native American people have experienced
. It made me see many things about myself in the process.

Did a semester abroad in Turkey, liked it so much I went back and taught English, and travelled around the country.

Have taught English in both Turkey and Albania....Ok, that's three "amazing things" - but how can I choose only one?!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My passion for writing and absorbing knowledge and experiences from others. Sharing some of my stories and experiences. I'm very open-minded, but also well-rounded in all kinds of subjects. I try to keep informed about political and social events, and I am very passionate about history, cultures and music. I would appreciate any new experiences you'd be able to offer me in your city.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Vatican City State
