Overview
About Me
Living in Leeds, leaving for India May 2017, so unable to host unfortunately. Until, that is, I find myself a base somewhere between Sri Lanka and Japan.
Interested in anything movement based (climbing, yoga, cross fit etc) and anything creative/design orientated (This is very much an amateur interest as opposed to skill set though).
Attend a range of 'meet-up' groups from "digitial/tech, to minimalism to meditation". I like to keep it novel.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been foruante that in my 3 previous houses in Sheffield and in Manchester my friends had couchsurfing accounts so I have always been somewhat involved. I have great friends indirectly through people staying in our shared house.
I love to host, to hear new peoples perspectives and learn from New cultures in order to challenge or question my own perspectives.
I like playing 'guide' to my friends whether they are from a different city, different county or different continent. Giving them a genuine feel of what the city is like, beyond the tourist destinations. Independent shop owners, creatives and makers, unassuming but amazingly food, picnic spots and great views (particularly fond of heights).
Next month I begin a work/pleasure trip around Sri Lanka, Indian and Asia. Although the aim is to get an idea of how it is to live in these different areas with intention of settling somewhere, initially will not have a stable base to host.
As my primary intention isn't getting to know neighbours to potentially move to, what better way than through knowledge and expertise of locals to that area.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything from classical (Dustin O'hallaran and similar film scores- he did Lio) to Stormzy (UK grime artist).
Music I listen to to concrete may include Asgeir, explosions in the sky etc
But music I party to may include Boyz Noise, Justice et al.
Always open to new music.
Books, admittedly, at the moment my reading is pretty niche. I read a lot! On the nicer end I have been called 'faddy' in terms of my reading, and on the blunter end 'obsessive' I.e. When all the books you read (Ryan holiday, cal Newport, tim
Ferris) just start to say the same thing;
Create more - stop watching TV - get off your phone - travel - read - repeat
Favourite book: art of stillness (pico iyer), art of slowness, bad science, war of art, 4 hour work week, minmalism (less is more), on and Cat in the Hat for nostalgic reasons.
I do want to steer away from self-development and widen my repertoire to non-fiction but until then maybe auto- and biographies are a happy medium? Recommendations?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to (I believe the first and potentially the only) traditional Newari wedding in Nepal where the bride wasn't Newari. Quotes the opposite, she was from 'Yorkshire'...
Teach, Learn, Share
Attending 200hour yoga teacher training in Goa in May, so may be able to offer some advice for the sore backs of backpackers.
Speech and language therapist with key interest in working with individuals with autism and additional needs.
Also TEFL 200hr qualified to teach English as additional language.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Average to good cook.
Crave novelty and love all forms of movement, excercise and adventure.
Very open minded and keen to try out new experiences.
Reasonably well read in the area of "self-development" (Ryan holiday, tony robins etc)
I like to wake up early and get stuff done!
I also make great smoothies...
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Nepal, Slovenia, United States
