Overview
About Me
Update 11/6/16: The end of the year and holiday season are pretty busy for us- our work travel is most active at this time; and we both are in and out of town visiting family frequently, or they are here occupying our guest room. We may be able to host 1-2 nights, but anything longer is very difficult for us to accept currently. We will update after the holidays when our schedules return to normal.
CURRENT MISSION
Travel the world and meet new friends for conversation, coffee, and adventure.
ABOUT US
Kaitlin and Sean are two lovers of adventure, the outdoors, and being UofA Wildcats!
Sean received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with studies in Computer Engineering, Math, and Business Management. Born and raised in Arizona, he grew up camping and fishing with his family at any available opportunity. While most of his time is spent working; off-roading, camping, hiking, mountain biking, reading, and geocaching are all activities Sean enjoys when he can break away. Sean now works as an Electrical Engineer in the Renewable Energy and Mining industries.
Kaitlin loves… her husband, her amazing family, her lovely friends, her kitties (Zoey, Zelda, Tux, Patches, and Lily), her puppy Sadie, traveling, laughing, photography, handmade cards, baking, cooking, crocheting, camping, hiking, skiing, scuba diving, off-roading, rain, sunsets, mountains, the desert southwest, the ocean, board and card games, geocaching, crafting, dancing, country music, golf, The University of Arizona, movies, reading, the silhouette of palm trees against a sunset, inside jokes, quoting movies, and life! Kaitlin is not really sure what she wants to do with her life, but as long as it involves the previously mentioned activities, she will be blissfully happy.
Our current adventure plans are pretty simple… travel the world.
PHILOSOPHY
Sean: Somewhere between Day by Day, and having an entire year planned out. I like to be pretty flexible on a day to day basis, but I generally have big things planned out way ahead of time.
Kaitlin: Don't sweat the small stuff (a personal philosophy that I have to remind myself ALL the time).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have had great experiences so far Couchsurfing and we are excited to meet new people. We look forward to hosting others now that we have a place of our own.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We went on a 10 week trip through Europe in the summer of 2012. We surfed and met wonderful people in London, Belgium, Switzerland, and Slovenia. As a side note, even though all hosts were busy at the time of my trip through Amsterdam- a member there introduced me to a friend of theirs that operated a very reasonable B&B- which worked out great as a backup.
Interests
Sean: Geocaching, Offroad Driving, Carpentry, Computer Games, Reading, and Travel.
Kaitlin: I have many. See a "brief" list in the about me section above.
Music, Movies, and Books
Sean: I watch a lot of shows on Netflix while I study or relax. I enjoy Sci-Fi, comedy, documentaries, history, and whatever category you can place MythBusters in. Movies are along the same lines: Action, Drama, Science Fiction, Comedy. For books- I enjoy fiction, epic novels, and fantasy, as well as some non-fiction or historically based books.
Kaitlin: The music I enjoy listening to includes country, pop, classical, and oldies. I enjoy books involving historical fiction, drama, fantasy, and humor. I watch way too many movies and enjoy comedy, romantic comedy, action, Disney, and some Sci-Fi.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sean: I have been to Haiti 3 times for charity projects. In March 2013, I helped build a solar energy system I designed for a Hospital in Port Au Prince. It was a stressful project to manage, but it was worth every hour spent on it now that the hospital has stable power.
Kaitlin: Life amazes me everyday.
