Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy sci-fi movies and books the most. Old school sci-fi books are the best. I'm slowly working on reading all of Phillip K Dick's life work.
National Geographic is my favorite publication. It has given me lots of inspiration in photography and my worldly travels.
I listen to a lot of music all the time! I like alternative, dub step electronica and everything in between. Some of my favorite groups are. Rise Against, Radiohead, Incubus, The Shins, Nine Inch Nails, Skrillex, The Glitch Mob, Flux Pavilion, Pretty Lights, etc..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Years ago I went to Colorado with my older sister for the first time. She coerced me into hiking a trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. I wasn't looking forward to it. I woke up early, strapped my boots on and dragged myself to the trailhead. The rest of that day changed my view completely. With each step I took my mind, body and spirt seemed to slow down and run in sync. By the time we reached the first lake on the trail I was sold on Hiking. The crystal clear glacial lake at the base of snow capped mountains was absolutely breathtaking. Since then I have gone back and hiked that park 4 more times.
I was never any good at snow skiing. In grade school we took a couple day trips to the 'mountains' here in missouri. I made countless attempts to descend the 400' hill without falling over. 12 years later I tried snowboarding in Colorado's front range. After a quick 3 hour lesson I was ready for my first run down the bunny slope. I made it up the chairlift and nailed the dismount. Standing at the top of the hill (with everything to fear) I looked out and soaked in the mountain vista for reassurance. I shoved off, held my balance and prepared to make my first carve. I leaned in for my toe side, leveled out and then nailed the heal side. A huge sense of accomplishment came over me and I continued to carve my way down the mountain. When I came to a stop at the bottom I yelled out with joy,
During my SCUBA training my first few breaths underwater were so exciting. I kept smiling and giggling as the air flowed into my lungs. Learning how to scuba dive is so easy and it opened my eyes to a whole 'nother world.
