About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Starting a traveling circus.
ABOUT ME
I was born in Michigan, in a small town 20 miles outside Ann Arbor.
I left MI a year after high school to help clean up after Hurricane Katrina. My mission was to clean up tree debris, remove damaged/dangerous trees, and drive them to the dumps to be used as an organic layer between layers of house wreckage. After the contracts ended and most of the disaster relief crews had moved on, I was offered a chance to drive a truck and trailer to Browning, MT. (Not for pay, but all expenses paid along with a ticket to anywhere in the country afterward.) This is when I first realized that I love to explore, and got the sense that "this" is the life for me. I'll skip ahead a bit to leave a bit of mystery. I lived in New Orleans, LA for 3 1/2 years volunteering with Americorps, and a non-profit community garden project in the Lower Ninth Ward. I had many great adventures and met many odd, inspiring, and interesting people. NOLA helped to add to my curiosity and resistance to the traditional way of living. As the sun set across the Missip one sweaty evening, bottle half full of whiskey in hand and the echoes of gunshots in my head, I decided it was time again for a change of scenery. I planned to meet a friend, a WWOOFer I had lived with at Capstone community garden, at my dad's farm in MI. From there we planned to travel east to her cousins small farm in Mass. We arrived in Portland, OR a few weeks later with hopes of harvesting some stuff to fund further wanderings. It turned out we took a little too long swimming in rivers and delivering cars across the mountains. All of the harvest jobs were filled that were within our range. We decided that we will get full time jobs and save up for the winter. That didn't last long. The restlessness grew and we both quit on the same day. Now, I am going to wander again. My plan this time is to be back in New Orleans by April 20th for my homie's wedding. I've got a bit of time to kill meanwhile
