Hi! I am from Minnesota originally and have made my way back here after living in Maine, Idaho, Canada, Germany, and Alaska. It feels very good to be here but only because I have spent time away. I like to spend my time being silly, playing music (piano, banjo, and ukuele), learning languages, reading books, and having good, chill times with good, chill people. In the summer I have varied success growing things in a garden and sometimes even eating them (with great success!). I work at a job that isn't stressful or high-paying because I've decided I would rather have free time than a lot of money. And of course, I enjoy seeing the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because there are hosts in Antarctica! I may never make it there but I'll always know that I could stay with hosts there and that gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Interests

So many hobbies, so little time! If I could quit my job and just spend my time learning languages, playing music, reading books, and drinking tea, I would.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I'm a fan of "100 Years of Solitude", "Pride and Prejudice", "Lolita", and "The Yiddish Policeman's Union", and have really gotten into the Brother Cadfael mystery murder series.

Movies: "Royal Tenenbaums", "Army of Darkness", "Pride and Prejudice (A&E version)", "Slums of Beverly Hills", and "The Aristocats" will never get old for me.

Music: Apart from Beck, Regina Spektor, and Simon and Garfunkel, I like random assortments of songs. Rammstein is a guity pleasure, too. But generally I like lots of bluegrass, hard rock, and occasionally harder stuff. My Tom Waits Pandora station rarely lets me down.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the Aurora Borealis in northern Saskatchewan, in the middle of the woods next to a lake. They were so intense we could hear them. They shimmered across the sky and looked like a green river flowing down the horizon. I will never forget it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some words in German and Russian, or how to play a few chords on my respective instruments. I will learn any word from any foreign language any day, and I like learning all sorts of instruments.
I would also like to learn more about cars!
