About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world! I'm actually using my studies and the medium of photography to get around en get in touch with all kinds of different people

ABOUT ME

I'm a 20-somewhat art student in Belgium. I'm trying to become a photography, mostly documentary work. Right now I'm working on my graduate project about hooliganism in Belgium.
Apart from photography - which usually is a part of everything I do - I love traveling, discovering new places and meeting people on the way. I enjoy the experience of talking to people from far away places because everyone has a story. I also enjoy showing people around in Belgium, taking them to interesting places to eat, drink or just have fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For my studies I moved to Ghent where I live in a small studio, sharing the floor with a dear friend. We have a couch and a bed available for travellers and we're right in front of the main station where you can take a bus/tram/train anywhere you like! I'm usually very busy but I'll always try to carve out some time if we have visitors!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with some people in Morocco and Iceland and it's been wonderful. I'd prefer staying with people and hang out with them instead of staying at a hotel. While living in Ghent we haven't had any surfers yet, mostly because we were traveling ourselves but we're looking forward to welcoming you and show you around! Oh and did I mention we're rather good cooks?

Interests

Photography is my passion so everything revolves around that actually. But I enjoy a variety of other stuff.
I'm into art, which is only natural. But I also enjoy going out for a few drinks, music, just having fun. I'm also a big fan of movies, shows, books, anything that requires me to think or be creative.
And of course traveling, meeting people and make sure they have a good time while visiting our charming little country.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like different kinds of music, going from hiphop to jazz, rock, eletronic. If it makes me feel good I'll listen to it or even buy it.
Movies are also something I like because they always seem to inspire my photographic work, image- or subject-wise. Going to the movies or just lay back and watch a movie at home is always something I'm up for!
And books, I love reading and try to do it as much as I can. Long rides are perfect to catch up on my reading. I like a wide variety of books, the story and use of language just has to be good, I'm currently enjoying the works of Irvine Welsh but I'm also familiar with Steinbeck, Jon Ronson, Hunter S Thompson, Hugo Claus, ... But my favorite kind of books are photobooks, naturally. I enjoy looking at them, analyzing them and above all making and composing them myself!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I haven't done anything that amazing yet but I'm pretty proud of the fact that my housemate and I went to Iceland completely unprepared (as it was our first big trip) and took on the Landmannalaugar trail (even finishing in a day early!). We were completely knackered at the end but all in all very happy with the experience! But to be honest, the entire trip through Iceland was a blast!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well being a photography student I could teach you a thing or two about photography and I do have a lot of stories to share about experiences, projects I've done and people I've met while working but hey, I don't wanna sound like an old man talking about 'the glory days'.
But I always have a story ready!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I can share a variety of stuff with host, from food to experiences. I just try and be a nice host and make sure people leave with a smile on their face. If anybody needs anything I'll always try and do my best!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, United Kingdom
