About Me

I began my life in the mountains in Canada. Early on I became very interested in competitive rock climbing and martial arts which pretty much took up all my time until the end of high school. As an adult, I started rock climbing outside and it took me to some amazing places around the world and introduced me to amazing people. I began work as an instructor and painter to fund my travels for rock climbing. Initially as a way to stay flexible, I began practising yoga and dance. As I became more interested, I started being introduced to more artistic communities which eventually led me to the world of circus arts where I perform various fun things. My study of yoga and buddhist philosophy has given me a chance to value love and contribution above all else; and I guess you could say that my journey right now is in learning exactly what it is I have to offer this world. Both artistically and practically. I am currently traveling to meet new people and share with them to see if I can learn new ways of thinking and loving that may have eluded me in the comforts of my own home and culture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find this resource invaluable for really seeing the depth of a new area through the people that live there. An openness to allowing strangers into your home is a state of mind that I can relate to; and this is a sure way to make fiends quickly. I also find that traveling by another means, though enjoyable, keeps me in my own little "box". Being in the space of a kind stranger forces me to experience new ways of living and having fun. Broadens my horizons!

Interests

Creative movement practises are where it's at for me. Whether it's climbing, yoga, dance, acrobatics; using my body creatively puts me in my happy place. I feel like I communicate better there, in a state of play with others.
I also enjoy watching movies and making healthy food with tons of wine:)

Music, Movies, and Books

The music I enjoy varies. These days I'm into more new age electronic stuff that puts me into a trance like place to move to. My favourite artists in this category are
-Polish Ambassador
-Desert Dwellers
-Tycho
-Plantrea
-Kyla Scintilla
-Emancipator

others of different genres include

-Fink
-Massive Attack
-Tool
-Portishead
-Radiohead

My favourite book at the moment is the king killer chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.
I also enjoyed Shantaram, Guns Germs and steel, the Return of Quetzalcoatl and the hitch hikers guide!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drinking a bag of wine half way up a 1100 meter cliff face in California was an experience I'll take to the grave.

Attending the burning man festival; a 70,000 person arts festival in Nevada; was the turning point for realising who I really am

Getting "screetched in" in Newfoundland by getting unexpectedly slapped in the face with a Cod fish after drinking five shots of Whiskey.

Battling incredibly territorial monkeys mid climb while deep water soloing in Thailand

Improvising a solo strip show for a bachelorette party that randomly showed up at my host's house.

Teach, Learn, Share

Move your body! Let it do the thinking for you. Play with others and get over the weird social barriers that keep us apart. I look for eyes. Always searching for those who wish to see me. And share the very vulnerable desire to be seen. Never refuse water, a hug, or a friend in need.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a unique view of the world through my experiences with climbing mountains all over the world. Teach them how to do it themselves. I can introduce the amazing practice of acro yoga; which I have found to be a most amazing way to connect and play and be intimate with other people. I enjoy a clean space that feels restful; a sanctuary from the business of travel. If it is messy I will clean! I love to cook as well and live for deep conversations about our experience of love.
