Overview
About Me
Hey! I'm Sebastian, a 24 year old Chilean who loves traveling the world and meeting people from all over. I'm a masters student in Economics, a discipline which fascinates me, in which I hope I will get a PhD and become a university professor one day. I'm also an amateur mountaineer, trying to get the best out of living besides the Andes range. The challenge of the climb, the struggle with nature and the breathtaking natural landscapes are impossible to resist. Other than that, I love a good beer and a good conversation in good company.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just joined planning my trip to Iceland on July 2017! I heard Iceland has a great couchsurfing community, I hope to find places to stay and Icelanders to meet, and I hope to retribute by inviting people from all over the world to Santiago once I have my own place (hopefully by October 2017).
But more generally, I love the concept of actually living the local life while traveling. If I'm visiting a new country, I want to get as deep as possible into their culture, and staying with a local instead of a hostel goes a great deal in that direction.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've liked rock music over all other since I was little, going from punk to progressive metal and all over. Dream Theater is probably the band I've listened the most during my life. But I like all sorts of other music as well.
About books, I have to admit novels are my favorite, specially fictional or historical ones. I'm a big time fan of Game of Thrones.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I've done, I don't want to leave it written, maybe ask after a couple of beers.
But one definitely amazing thing was climbing the Volcán San José, a volcano almost 6,000 meters high. It's hard to describe how tough it was getting to the crater, it was bitter cold and altitude sickness takes away most of your physical strength. And when we got to the crater, the wind was so strong it could easily throw you straight to the ground. My climbing partner decided he wouldn't go any farther, and so we returned without reaching the actual summit. It's been haunting me for a while, but I'm gonna get that volcano some day.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach spanish or english quite well I think, I'm native spanish and very fluent in english. I would love to learn new languages as well!
I could also teach a lot of economics, statistics and math, I'm a pretty good student. And I love having discussions about economic issues, intertwining with politics and ethics, and even though I'm a big ignorant on philosophy and sociology I really like talking and learning about these.
And as an amateur mountaineering, I have some knowledge I could share about this, though still have a lot to learn from more experienced folks.
But definitely love getting to know new cultures, and talking about mine and the ones I know.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Mostly good times :) I'll be bringing Pisco and Mate with me to Iceland, so hopefully I'll let have some and let you try! Pisco is by far the most typical hard licor in Chile, and Mate is a very bitter kind of tea that is common in Argentina and Chile.
