About Me

I'm a 24 year old student living in Umeå, Sweden doing my first year of university studying chemistry.

I'm half Canadian, half Swedish, born in Vancouver, Canada and lived there for my first 19 years, then moved to Sweden to pursue my dream of being a world cup alpine ski racer. I had a really fun two years living in Tärnaby, a small town in the north of Sweden but I decided it was time to go to school and start learning. I moved back home and started taking courses and coaching ski racing as well. Two years back in Canada coaching and taking classes then last September I moved to Umeå to start studying chemistry.

I love to travel and explore, I'm the kind of traveller who would much rather spend time walking around the city experiencing the culture rather than waiting in line to get into a museum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and meet new people, and some of my best travel experiences have been visiting friends or family who live in the city I'm visiting, so I thought why not combine the two?

I have many friends who've had great experiences couch surfing and they always come back with fun stories of the cool people they stay with and the awesome advice they get from true locals.

Interests

I am an avid athlete and enjoy pretty much all sports, but my true love is downhill ski racing. I grew up skiing the local mountains around Vancouver but I spent most of my ski racing career skiing Whistler mountain, and travelling all over western Canada, the US, and Scandinavia racing, as well as training in Chile and Austria.

I love music, and I'm currently trying to learn to DJ. I mostly like electronic music, but I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for classic rock and indie music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like music with heavy bass, my itunes library is filled with a wide variety of music, everything from the Wu-tang clan and Kendrick Lamar, to trap sounds like Flosstradamus, Dillon Francis, What so Not, and Jack Ü, even some rock like Led Zeppelin and The White Stripes. Basically if it has a heavy bassline, I'm going to groove to it and bust a funky move. Easier than explaining, I'll just post some links to some of the music I currently like.

As for movies, basically anything by Hayao Myiazaki is pure magic to me, my favourite movie of all time is a toss up between the Matrix, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Song of the Sea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favourite memories was when I was the forerunner (basically one of the people who tests the racetrack) at the 2010 winter paralympics at my home ski hill Whistler. My job was to race the track as though I was actually racing and make sure it is safe for the athletes who were competing, it was an amazing experience and I met so many inspiring disabled athletes and I managed to set my own speed record, on one section of the course I managed to go around 130km/h!
