About Me

Update Summer 2017: I have relocated to Amsterdam from Copenhagen.

CURRENT MISSION

To have a positive interest in others. But I regard the word mission as another word for narrowing the perspective of opportunity, which is an unusually complicated way of saying that I am open to virtually everything. Be kind to all beings and help foster a sustainable and plant-based world.

ABOUT ME

I'm a master of science in Digital Design with a focus on human centric design in intelligent environments and smart homes (an interdisciplinary area involving coding, artificial life, a range of technologies and, of course, architecture) and have a background in philosophy, user psychology and HCI. Before coming to Amsterdam, I used to work as a user researcher at the adaptive futures lab in Copenhagen at the ITU. But hopefully no one is the sum of their educations, jobs and what else might exist on the surface. I hope the above doesn't make me sound too serious. :)

tea (asian oriented), philosophy, german/scandinavian/russian film, design (analog and digital), performance, veganism, basketball (sports for the tall children, yay), digital arts-coding, embodied technics, poetry, fabrics, fashion, adaptive architecture, artificial intelligence, litterature of many sorts, red wine.. and so on and so on. What is a night worth without a story to tell?

Interests

For lack of a more sufficient idea, here are some interests expressed in random links (edit: the list is from 2010, but I suppose seeing what videos I chose at that particular moment can provide a bit of insight as well):

Music, Movies, and Books

"Your cold mornings are filled with the heartache about the fact that although we are not at ease in this world, it is all we have, that it is ours but that it is full of strife, so that all we can call our own is strife; but even that is better than nothing at all, isn't it?
And as you split the frost-laced wood with numb hands, rejoice that your uncertainty is God's will and His grace toward you that that is beautiful, and a part of a greater certainty, as your own father always said in his sermons and to you at home. And as the ax bites into the wood, be comforted in the fact that the ache in your heart and the confusion in your soul means that you are still alive, still human, and still open to the beauty of the world, even though you have done nothing to deserve it.

And when you resent the ache in your heart, remember: You will be dead and buried soon enough."

Paul Harding - Tinkers

A nice "little" book from last year.

In general I have a great love for litterature. Of the recent things I've read I would recommend Lispectors 'Agua Viva' And Laszlo Krasznahorkai's "Melancholy of resistance".

Music: Synths, most things "Post", classical (one day I'll be able to play liebestraum!), icelandic, David Bowie and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sometimes get overwhelmed by the fact that I inhabit the same planet as people who have produced things thousands of years ago that still fills me with joy. Or the richness of the deep sea. I guess what I am trying to say is that I think many things are truly amazing in this world, it doesn't take much for me to be filled with such emotions. I know this questions begs for some sort of pedestal but I don't think I am capable of that.

Anyways, here's an optical poem, it seems processing existed many years before coding was a thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=they7m6YePo&index=64&list=FL1rp2JlWUl1Evn-4Qt_xNbA
