About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live, love, discover.

ABOUT ME

I'm a software developer currently based in NYC. Miss being on the road though! Much of my life has been spent vagabonding, and I love connecting with people that share that same wanderlust. My personal blog can says more about me than I care to admit sometimes, so check it out if you're interested (www.mynamessebastian.com) - or message me in when in NYC and we can meet up!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indie Folk, acoustic guitar, and blue grass/folk music (but only live)

Movies: I love movies but am not a fan of the theater. I've always been attracted to animated films, such as Surfs Up or Walle. However, there is no genre (besides horror) that I am opposed to taking the time to watch.

Books: I love to read. Mainly life guidance books such as The 4-Hour Work Week or certain biographies. At the same time though I often find myself entranced by fictional classics and philosophical teachings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I kayaked the Great Bend of the Yangtze river. Built orphanage dormitories in the highlands of Tibet. Was in Oaxaca Mexico for Dia De Los Muertos, spent an entire year traveling the world with 13 fellow kayakers in a van, camping mostly and occasionally staying in a hostel.

There has been more, but I rather share the stories in person, as well as hear yours!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, when I was 18 I was a semi professional white water kayaker, which allowed me to travel all the way from the creeks of North Carolina to the great rivers of Western China. So of course if any one wants a kayaking lesson I am more than willing!

Now of days, I teach coding at General Assembly in Manhattan. The class is for javascript web development, however I'm Full-stack with ruby. And familiar with a bunch of the major frameworks.

However, from cooking to graphic design, my days are constantly filled with me pursuing and furthering new skills. The variety of experiences I've had throughout my so far short life have been valuable not because of what I've gained personally, but because of it giving me the ability to connect with more people. Therefore, whether it is music, athletics, trade, or whatever I look forward to passing to others what I have learned, and only hope the exchange is reciprocated.
