About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am working to tackle climate change, as well as other areas of social inequality and injustice. My main mission is always to meet new people, from different backgrounds who can broaden, and deepen, my own understanding of this complex world we live in.
ABOUT ME
I love to travel. My main motivations are meeting new people and trying new foods. I study and work a lot, but I try hard to not let that make me a boring person. Most of my recent travel experiences have been in China, where I spent 3 months living with my Chinese family over the last year.
PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is to enjoy life, while at the same time building the experiences and meeting the people to help me achieve the goals I have set for myself. These goals are as disparate as writing a book on life philosophy (that people actually want to read) to wanting to manage an inter-regional project during my life, to climbing all the holy mountains in China.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really enjoy meeting really different people. Couchsurfing has always given me this. There is no other community I have ever met and interacted with who have allowed me to experience and learn so much, from gaining skills and knowledge, to just getting the chance to experience different ways of life I have yet to have a truly bad couchsurfing experience.
Sadly I am no longer able to host, but I do relish the experience to be able to meet others through surfing and events.
Interests
I have spent a lot of time doing work related to sustainability, sustainable development and other related areas. I have a passion for problem solving and people related work. This has only been increased through my experiences in Kenya, Malaysia and China.
I am also a huge lover of food, especially the food lots of other people see as disgusting or scary. Whether its insects, sheep brains or puffer fish I always jump right in.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've watched two travel movies I really like: The Way and Into the Wild, and One movie which perfectly captures International Development: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
My favourite books would be a very long list, so just sticking to my top 5: Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, The Monk and the Riddle, The Lord of the Rings, Connect, Mastery.
I don't have favourite music, I listen to what ever suites my mood.
I'm always looking to be introduced too more
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 3 months working on a project in Kenya through VSO (a UK based international development Charity). I sometimes worry this may have just been voluntourism, though they were the most informative months of my life. I helped to develop an environmental & sanitation education programme for the local community, worked on business strategy with a recycling company and mentored a few young members of the community.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have developed a specialism for sustainable development (a common theme if you have read my whole page until this point) and you might find I won't stop talking about it. Otherwise I love discussing any social, philosophical or otherwise interesting topic. If I don't know anything about it you can quickly find that I will ask a hundred or more questions until I do.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm happy to share anything I know, I normally help out around the house when I couchsurf (cleaning and so on), if the host wants. I can cook a few Chinese dishes, and quite a few British ones (other than fish & chips).
