ABOUT ME
Sara is Italian, from Ferrara. She studied Biotechnology in Italy, before moving to England for her Master thesis. She did her PhD in Luxembourg and she discussed her thesis in Psychobiology, in which she mainly investigated the molecular biology of our 'stress sensor', the Gluocorticoid Receptor. This protein mediates all the effects of cortisol, the hormone produced under physical and psychological stress, including immunosuppression and modification of the glucose metabolism. Sara is mainly interested in holistic approaches to medicine, integral therapies, traditional healing and massage techniques.
Sébastien is Belgian, from Bruxelles. He worked for 6 years in Luxembourg, where he acquired skills in virology, phylogeny, Bayesian analysis, sequence analysis. Sébastien recently obtained a Master diploma in Systems Biology. The main research topic of his thesis was bioinformatics and epidemiology, more precisely phylogenetics and the modelisation of dynamic transmission networks. He is mainly interested in ecology and creative ways to produce food, water, and shelter in resilient, sustainable, and compassionate ways.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We hosted plenty of people and these were all great encounters. Other than cheap tourism, this is the opportunity to create international links between people with common interests (or not), and meet people you wouldn't have met otherwise...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We host more and more people and it was really nice... Now we travel in SE Asia
Interests
Both of us are in search of meaning in this strange world. We decided to leave our jobs and the confortable life we have in Luxembourg to travel Asia. Our main interest is to visit resilient communities and learn. Learn how humans can live together in a peaceful way and what are the mechanisms to accomplish that. Learn how communities can organize to sustainably produce food and other necessities with the least effort and the most efficiency. Learn how humans can fit in the landscape with the appropriate impact on other living species and on the planet. Learn to what extent we can be detached from our material possessions, and be happy about sharing. Learn how people can prevent, cure, and heal various conditions in natural ways. Study our relation with modern technology and learn to separate the wheat from the chaff. In one word, learn to be humans!
