ABOUT ME
For Starters:
I'm a 23 year old college graduate (May '09) and I'm currently working as a college prep teacher at South High School in Denver, Colorado. The school I work at is 64% non-English speaking, as it caters to a mostly immigrant/refugee population. I love going there everyday to work with those kids and hear their stories, and I wouldn't trade the experience I've had with them for anything.
PHILOSOPHY
At the risk of sounding cheesy, I believe that with the right attitude and level of open-mindedness in life, everything will work out as it should. That doesn't mean we're 'fated' to reach some given outcome, but if you approach things the right way, one can adapt to whatever happens and come to accept it as better than any other outcome.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Ideally, I'd like to build my reputation on CS, as it will likely be my entry-way into Japan!
I'm open to hosting as often as possible and maybe doing some surfing in the mean time, but I'm just glad to be a part of the project.

Music, Movies, and Books
Having graduated college recently, I've been at a loss for good books to read. Typically, I had a menagerie of classes that were forcring more good books than I could handle down my throat.
BOOKS
Nowadays, I've been reading through books that have won awards of some sort (Pulitzer Prizes, Nobel Prizes, etc.). Most recently I've read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay as well as The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
MOVIES
Anything by Wes Anderson I've found myself enjoying, though I don't blame the people who cant stand his work :)
More recently, movies like Inception, Tron and other sci-fi action flicks always grab my interest. Anything with an out there (but not too out there) plot line usually keeps me on the edge of my seat.
MUSIC
I listen to most anything except country and rap. I've been listening to a lot of alternative music and electronica lately...but these things are usually just a phase :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This past summer, during a backpacking trip with some friends, we managed to summit three 14,000 ft. mountains in 2 days.
Granted we set up camp at around 11,000 feet, but it was certainly one of the more grueling, though rewarding, things I've ever done.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to take someone rock climbing, teach them to play Go, sit down and have a chat about philosophy (what little I know about it), or teach them some neat things about computers!
