About Me

I have been on the road for many years and most recently 18 months in India. I have spent the last years on a journey to better understand my existence and to dive deeper into what exists beyond our senses. I have been drawn to exploring eastern spirituality including yoga, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

I’m constantly experimenting with myself (through diet, lifestyle, and various practices) to improve my ability to stay in the present moment and I am very happy to share what has been helpful for me.

I would also like to mention that I have hosted many people through the years (mainly off of CS) and I believe that community is incredibly important.

In this overwhelming age, I remain an optimist and an idealist!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel quite a bit and I think couchsurfing is an amazing tool to help me meet new people, check out new places, and to make it affordable. I am a strong advocate for the use of technology in connecting people to share resources.

I traveled around Europe for 8 months and I was amazed by the generosity of people I met along the way. I am happy that I am able to pay some of it back by offering my place to stay.

Interests

Over the past few years, I have spent time living at various contemplative centers and communities. The practices I have learned have become essential to my well being.

I am drawn to places that are quiet and rich with natural beauty. I absolutely love the mountains and I camp quite regularly. I also try share affection with all the living creatures of our world.

I am a vegetarian and I really appreciate locally grown food.

I love live music and when I am in the mood, I really enjoy dancing. I find it important to not get rigid on a spiritual journey and to remember to have fun!

These are all part of my main intention which is to wake up to my fullest potential and to help myself and the world in the best way that I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love live music and can listen to a wide range of genres. I love classical musics (especially Indian classical) but I am open to any music that is played from the heart. A few of my favorite artists are Krishna Das, Elephant Revival, the Desert Dwellers, and Manish Vyas.

Some of my favorite directors are Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan), the Wachowskis (V for Vendetta), Wes Anderson, and Richard Linklater (Before Trilogy), and Miyazaki.

Books - Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle), Siddhartha (Herman Hesse), Aldous Huxley, Ram Dass.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked 300 miles across Vermont on Longs Trail in September 2016. That was a lot more challenging than I expected.

Spending 10 days at Burning Man 2015

My first 10 day vipassana silent meditation retreat was one of the most challenging things I have ever done.

I have lived two winters in an AMAZING artist community called Libre which is nestled high (3000 meters/9000 feet) in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is 100 km/60 miles away from the nearest grocery store.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have traveled to many places and experimented with a lot of different things. I've lived at meditation centers in very rural areas and also inside cooperative living spaces sharing a place with 10+ roommates. I am always happy to share what I have learned through my experimentation and experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In our society, where most people are distracted with technology and constant stimulation, it is very rare for people to really listen to each other and be present with each other. I will do my best to be present with you.
