About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to eat my way through delicious European food while meeting interesting people
ABOUT ME
Well, I am a junior in college, studying mathematics. I plan to teach highschool mathematics one day.
I am currently studying abroad in Bulgaria. I am learning all about a culture much different than my own and finding it fascinating. I will be sad to leave school here, but I am looking forward to travelling for 5 weeks before i go back home! I want to make the most of my experience because I don't know when I'll be able to come back. Hopefully one day with my boyfriend, Kyle.
I am a health nut but also a closet junk food junkie!! I love all kinds of food and will try almost anything once.
I also really like to run...unfortunately a knee injury has slowed me down for the past 4 months
I am a pretty down to earth person. I don't need much for entertainment..just a book and maybe a sunny spot to read it in.
I don't smoke and I drink occasionally.
I am more of an early bird than a night owl. While I do party occasionally, I would prefer NOT to party while I'm travelling. (Sorry) I want to see things during the daytime!
I like organization and lists!! And sometimes that's really annoying to me.
I LOVE ice cream, especially ones with unusual flavors...ever tried lavender honey? It's the best!
And I love finding good bargains.
(Wow, reading over all of this has made me feel more like a grandmother than a 21 year old.)
Coming to study in Bulgaria is the first time I have been in Europe. I have loved it so far! There is nothing like Easter European hospitality...well maybe you could compare it to Southern Louisiana hospitality :)
PHILOSOPHY
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.
If you limit your choices only to what seems probable or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise.
Qui plante son jardin plante son bonheur
If you ran without sacrifice, congrats. You just jogged.
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Psalms 118:8
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't really participated in couch surfing yet. I became a member so that I could have the option of surfing during my travels. When I get back home, I plan to be a host, but right now it's difficult because I only have a bed in my dorm room.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense of Food, The Jungle, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Awakening, Gone with the Wind
Movies: Anything with Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn. The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner.
There are few movies that I actually think are good. That being said, I don't watch them much.
As for TV, I like The Office.
Music: Brandi Carlile, Maria Taylor, Greg Laswell, Josh Radin, Ray Lamontagne, Metric, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service, Sherwood, MGMT, Ingrid Michaelson, Jack Johnson, Molly Jenson, Sean Lennon, The New Pornographers, Blitzen Trapper
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year, I ran a half marathon. The whole experience from training and working towards a goal to running the race was just amazing and it seems like I am constantly chasing that runner's high. I can't wait until I am home and can start training for my first full marathon and triathlon.
Teach, Learn, Share
Be nice to your siblings when you're young, no matter how much they might annoy you. When you grow up, you will wish that you were closer.
Do everything to the best of your ability. That way, if you fail, you will know it wasn't your fault.
