About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Say YES to life!

ABOUT ME

Hey! I'm Selina

I'm a professional musician in a wedding band called The Brightside Party Band and I'm also a Singer-Songwriter in my own right going under the name Selina Autumn.

I lived in Spain for almost 3 years and met some amazing people, and I met some really good friends through Couch Surfing, and I hope to meet many more!

PHILOSOPHY

My motto in life is: Dance like nobody is watching, sing like nobody is listening, love like you've never been hurt, and live like today is your last day. Also......cook like a Master Chef!! haha.

Make the most of your life, because you never know what is around the corner!

It may annoy some of the more negative people out there, but if you look at your trivial situation and feel you have the right to complain....always think IT CAN ALWAYS BE WORSE! Wake up every day and be thankful for something in your life, even if it´s just that you´re alive and not lying in a gutter somewhere!

Never let anyone drain your happiness. If you´re in a relationship or friendship that makes you miserable... CHANGE IT or WALK AWAY! You are worth so much more than for people to treat you like dirt. Find people who will neither worship you, nor take advantage of you and hurt you....surround yourself with positive people who will treat you as an equal.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted events in the past when I lived in Spain, in particular a Pot Luck Picnic in Valencia which was one of the best day's ever!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CS by a friend of mine, and I´ve loved the new experiences it has brought me so far. I met loads of contacts, including a music producer who ended up recording some of my songs after meeting in La Coruña in Spain, so it can´t be half bad!

Interests

I am a musician, so music is my life - singing, playing, writing, performing...everything.

I love anything creative. I love creative writing and I am attempting to write a book (a comical semi-fictional tale of my life!). Unfortunately I can't draw to save myself, but I can live with that!

I avoid mostly all sport as much as possible, however I do love swimming, cycling, long walks in forests, picnics, camping, live music concerts (especially in the open air), and a bit of climbing now and then!

Confession: I am a total history geek! I love anything historical, from mostly any period of history, but I love ancient Celtic and Viking history, the Medieval period, and anything around the time of Jane Austen!

I used to take part in a Living History/Historical Re-enactment group and I'd love to do something like that again.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a weakness for Period Drama - any Andrew Davies screenplay is a MUST-SEE for me. Anything historical, or fantasy and I will watch it!

I also have a soft spot for Jim Henson, anything comical, and psychological films like The Butterfly Effect, Memento and Identity. Anything that will make you think, learn something about yourself, about your life, about the way the mind works, or just to gain more knowledge.

Music...well, anything goes for me. Lots of people SAY that they like "all types of music" and then when you probe deeper you find out that really they don't....but I genuinely do like at least something from every genre that I've heard. Everything from Celine Dion to Death Metal!!

Books that changed my life are: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, He's Just Not That Into You by the writers of Sex and the City, and The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I never have an answer to this question. Maybe I'm just not so easily pleased and I see something great and all I can muster is a "Yeah.........wow. So what's for dinner?"

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to songwrite, or write lyrics or poetry. If you want to learn Spanish or already have a basic level of Spanish I could teach you a little more, or if you want to improve your English, that´s what I've done as a profession, so I´d be happy to help!
