About Me

CURRENT MISSION

give people tools that allow them to interpret the massive amounts of information available today

ABOUT ME

I'm a computer geek who assumes everyone else is as excited about what I'm doing as I am. In the summer I rock climb, in the winter I snowboard. I love ice climbing, but need to do it more before I can really claim it as a hobby.

I used to make music, but these days I just listen to it ... choices have to be made, and I'm happy with mine.

PHILOSOPHY

luck is a state of mind; succeeding isn't easy, but it's possible; nice guys _don't_ finish last

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've crashed on a few couches in Europe, and hosted people as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't used CouchSurfing.com to surf yet, but I have definitely surfed plenty of couches and hosted plenty of surfers over the years. The longest I hosted was ten days when two guys from the UK came to stay at my place in Vancouver ... they had only planned to stay for a few days, but had such a great time that they extended their trip. I later spent time with them in England. I've also hosted people from Iceland and around the US.

I'm hoping to meet a lot of people traveling in Europe this summer, whether while surfing their couch or at some events.

Interests

rock climbing (I'll follow trad, but can't lead it), snowboarding, ice climbing, Lisp, techno, programming languages, linguistics

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely teach computer programming, also music theory (although I'm definitely getting rusty in that area), and I have tons of random little skills that I'm not great at, but can definitely give some beginning pointers on ... things like rock climbing, camping, organizing, etc.
