About Me

I am a student at the Hogeschol van Amsterdam but currently I am on a exchange to Nanchang, China to study here for one semester. My experience here has showed me the possibilities and enjoyment of travelling, because before my trip here I only left Europe to go to the United States. For the rest, I am really interested in skateboarding, photography, reading, music, experiencing new things and learning\finding new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I think its just a really good tool to meet people from all around the world and get a small insight in their live. I've only been in Europe for the most part of my life and I would really like to know more about different cultures and people from all over the world. I also think its a great way to make traelling easier for everybody, cause I think people should travel the world more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some music artists that I like are The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Alt-J, Animal Collective, Bob Dylan, Mazzy Star, and Radiohead. I also like finding out about some lesser known music like Adeodat Warfield 18 Carat Affair, Le Loup, and Glue Trip.

My favorite movies are "Boyhood", "The Beach", and "The Big Lebowski". I really like movies from the Coen brothers, those type of movies are my favorite. Recent movies that made an impact on me are "Synecdoche" and "They Look Like People". I like watching documentaries a lot aswell, the one that made the most impact on me is "What the bleep do we know!?".

I don't like reading novels too much. I rather read books to learn something, like a book about psychology, dreams, or philosophy. The book I just finished reading is "DMT: The Spirit Molecule", which was really interesting to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hope this list has just started and will have a lot more stories. For now, I think my most amazing story is from when I visited the Moon mountain in Yichun, China. It was the first mountain I climbed, since there are no mountains in the Netherlands. So it took us a while to get up there because we were stopping a lot at amazing views and places, when we got to the top we decided to walk further to an amazing cable bridge that was hanging next to a mountain 500meters high. We rushed back and got one of the last cable carts down, only to find out that we missed the last bus by an hour and a half. So we hitchhiked back to another city where we could get our train back. This all happened when I was completely new to China, mountain climbing, hitchhiking, and travelling, so it was really getting out of my comfort zone, which made the experience that much better :).
