About Me

I am a 24 years old law school graduate coming from Istanbul. I love learning new languages and therefore the culture and history and politics behind them. I love music, sounds; especially singing. I like things with stories. I've been drawing things since I was 2 years old and I love people. I constantly try to save money and travel. Always on a budget.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that people are the most interesting creatures on earth and they have an indefinite capacity of learning and sharing. And generally they do not realize that capacity. But if you put 2 people together, by realizing the other, they realize themselves. That is why I try to travel as much as possible and meet new people. And couchsurfing is a wonderful way to be with people. And also, being a lover of all the possibilities that can emerge from travelling, I don't want money problems to stop me from doing it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really do believe that if I would have to define myself with a song, it would have been Crying Out For Love by The Yardbirds.

Jack White is the musician that gives me the energy, the belief and the stubbornness to achieve anything.

Patti Smith is like the person who has always been there for me, with her works and her way of living.

And I must add, I really like Odetta, Led Zeppelin, Amadou et Mariam, Mariem Hassan, Rammstein, A Tribe Called Quest, Hayko Cepkin and Barış Manço.

I love the movies Der Himmel über Berlin, Lola Rennt.

The book that really inspired me in my adolescence is Just Kids by Patti Smith. And I admire the book Précis de Décomposition / A Short History of Decay by E. M. Cioran.

I also love Henry & June by Anaïs Nin, Journal du Voleur/ The Thief's Journal by Jean Genet, Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, Huzur/ A Mind at Peace and Saatleri Ayarlama Enstitüsü/ The Time Regulation Institute by Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and Puslu Kıtalar Atlası / The Atlas of Misty Continents by İhsan Oktay Anar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a trip with a group of students from my high school to the east of Turkey in order to do art workshops with the kids living there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share all the things I know just because I was born in Turkey: The politics, the history, the language, the culture, some traditional foods, dances, and songs.

And I can always talk about traveling, time, inner- exploration, learning methods, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My best to make them feel like they are traveling while they are actually surrounded by their daily lives.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
