About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To belong.

ABOUT ME

I'm an easy-going relaxed guy. Not a huge fan of going out to clubs and passionately frotting - I'm more stay in, smoke a number, and listen to jazz or talk about the next stage of human evolution. I also like going to pubs and drinking real ale, and going to jazz bars.

Always have time to listen to music - I have no concept of artists, lyrics, or even genres: music does not 'remind me of a time' or anything like that, but I do understand how it works. I play bass. I have played in rock, blues, funk, reggae, jazz, show, and big bands. I can play along to anything. I can read music. I love jamming.

Since the gigs dried up, I have been doing software development full-time. Those not in the know - I make web applications. Those in the know - LAMP, Yii, Zend Framework, jQuery, SVN, Bash.

I am also a dab-hand at Mariokart Wii and Worms.

PHILOSOPHY

Relax.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Ex host-by-proxy (flatmate was a host). Now a tentative surfer, with a view to being a host when I get my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My flatmate started hosting before I started travelling in the US. His first guest was Chad from Texas. What a legend. Told me all the places I should go, and had a brain. A gentleman and a scholar.

Interests

Hiking, pubs, canoeing, squash, Mariokart Wii, music, computers, talking in-depth about anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The view from here after arriving in the dead of night and coming out of my tent the next morning.

I saw a spider and a wasp having a fight when I was a few years old. Wasp was waving around trying to sting, and the spider just went 'fuck that' and wrapped him up.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you how to get the best out of your computer so that it works for you. If you like I'll have a go at fixing it if there's anything wrong. I can teach you about music theory, and how to play bass.
