About Me

CURRENT MISSION

striving to learn how to play a musical instrument

ABOUT ME

Currently in Japan studying art history. Fairly easy going, loves walking, video games, reading, and generally hanging out.

PHILOSOPHY

Regret stems from things one haven't done rather than from things one did.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Usually happy to meet random people. Some experiences may not be great. But in general, it's usually good.

I believe that everyone is essentially good.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only hosted so far. No actual couchsurfing experience yet! Hopefully soon I get to travel.

Interests

reading fictional works, essays, comic books, video games, walking around temples, toy photography, print-making, Japanese archery (kyudou), goldfish, karaoke, cakes! (eating and baking)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: comedies like the Monthy Python, horror the Nightmare on Elm St. series, dramas that made me cry like that Mandy Moore movie, A Walk to Remember. War movies like Full Metal Jacket. Filipino movies like "Temptation Island."

Music: anything Tori Amos, Smashing Pumpkins, lots of 90's alternative and one-hit-wonders

Books: anything by Neil Gaiman, Cormac McCarthy's "The Road," books on art history, design, art theory, classic children's books like "Alice's Adventures Through the Looking Glass," "The Wizard of Oz," and some of the Enid Blython stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm...

Teach, Learn, Share

Visit the Imperial villas around Kyoto. They are free and fairly easy to book at the Imperial Household Agency office. If you have the time, Katsura Imperial Villa is probably the best of the lot. But if time is a bit short, go see Sento Gosho, probably the best garden within the city center. Shugakuin is quite pretty too.

Maple syrup on pizza is pretty darn good.
