About Me

I recently graduated from the University of Virginia in the USA, and ever since I studied abroad after my first year in college I decided that I really wanted to travel the world and see what else was out there. I am always excited to try something new and open to pushing past my comfort zone in pursuit of new experiences. I've bungee jumped off a bridge, gone shark cage diving, crawled through caves, gone scuba diving, and hope to add a lot more to that list. I'm easy to get along with, enjoy meeting new people, and like to go on adventures so couchsurfing is a great fit for me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to couchsurf because from what I have heard, the kinds of people on here seem amazing to be around. Also, it’s great to meet new people and make friends across the world. It is especially rewarding to meet people that live in the place you are traveling to, as it provides you with real connections to that country and helps you really get to know the locals. Being exposed to different people and cultures is a wonderful experience that can be as enlightening as it is fun, and I think helps make the world more accepting and interesting. I also appreciate the mentality and ideals of the community itself, one that seeks to engage people outside of their traditional settings and foster a sense of family across the world in a unique way, which is something I can't wait to do.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching all kinds of movies, especially foreign films not made in Hollywood as they often have a very different approach to film and entertainment, making the movie more interesting and complex. Some random movies that I am thinking of right now (not just foreign ones) are Amelie, The Secret of Kells, Ernest et Celestine, Lost and Found, Lion, MadMax: Fury Road, Prisoners, The Jungle Book, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Her, A Town Called Panic, The Deep, The Way Back.....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I studied abroad in South Africa in college, and that was a great trip. We chose a topic in the field of public health to research and then visited a township near Cape Town regularly for 5 weeks to interview its residents and get a better understanding of public health in their community. My group chose to look into how a persons beliefs effect where they seek healing, and it was very interesting to see the wide variety of beliefs people held within the township and how that effected where they went when they were sick.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy learning all sorts of things, whether it's how people live in other parts of the world, how a computer works, or what you did last weekend, I'm interested!

As for what I can teach I am fluent in English, am pretty good with computers, and know how to write small macros to optimize inefficient and repetitive tasks.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories of the places I've been so far and dreams of where I hope to go someday. I also have a friendly personality, desire for adventure, and am open to trying all sorts of things, which is bound to make our time together fun and interesting!
