Chi sono
Hello!
Nice to meet you.
I'm 김석창(Kim Seokchang), Seokchang is my first name and Kim is my family name.
I'm from South Korea and live in Seoul at the moment.
I'm a graduate student for Master's degree now and I specialise in modern Korean history.
Actually I used to study archaeology and Asian art history at university and graduate school as major but I changed my major to Korean modern history and I'm happy to study with that.
I love to learn foreign culture, languages, travel and foods etc.
Since when I was little, I've been interested in foreign culture really much.
That's why I got love to learn foreign history, languages, foods and meet foreigners to learn their culture.
Because I think those things are the key to learn their culture.
I've learned English and Japanese for about 10 years, Chinese and German for a year and a half, French for about 9 months, Turkish for about 1 year and a bit Russian, Hungarian, Polish, Italian, Spanish etc so far.
But I forgot much of what I learned Chinese, German and French because I can not practise them well in Korea and it's been a long time since I stopped to learn them.
I couldn't have a chance to meet up foreign people in Seoul, so I started to use a website to make pen pals and I could made a lot of friends in the world.
When they came to Korea to travel or study, I enjoyed to guide them in Seoul because I know about many hidden historic sites or traditional culture more than normal people for my major study.
And I also visited them when I travelled to overseas and hung out or stayed with them together.
So I think I travelled about 25 countries so far.
And I've met so many people including my penfriends during the travels so far and I could meet many people through homestay as a guest or a host.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
Actually, I'm a member of Servas which is an international NGO and the NGO is for cultural exchanging through homestay when travellers to visit other countries.
Yes, it's very similar with Couch Surfing but my NGO belongs to UNESCO and we have an interview to accept members, that's the different things with Couch Surfing.
So, I've met more than 30 families through homestay by Servas when I travelled in Europe for 3 months, Taiwan and Japan for 3 weeks as a guest, and met several people from overseas as a host.
I think homestay is the best way to learn about foreign cultures.
Because I thought I know about foreign countries well before but I realised that I have much stereotype and know almost nothing about the countries after did homestay.
So, since that time I've been enjoyed to do homestay when I travel abroad.
And I want to meet more people through travel, that's why I decided to join in Couch Surfing.
