About Me
Hi people!
I’m Anaïs, a 26-years-old girl from Barcelona. I have always lived there and I reeeeally love my city. I know I don’t look spanish or catalan, but I am. You can notice it by my passion about tomato bread and “tapas”. Maybe my grand-grand-grand father was russian or british! :)
I studied a cinema and communication degree in university. I learnt a lot, but I knew that field wouldn’t be my job.
At the same time, I’ve always liked volunteering with children and teenagers, so I decided to work in education. I’m a social and free-time educator, and I think that we’re occupying the forgotten part in the educating system: we are educating in values, but with differents tools, like the playing time.
I really love photography; especially photojournalism and street photography. I’m taking photos everytime I can, and in fact, I did my degree for this reason. Some photos are good, maybe most aren’t. But I don’t care. I can keep memories forever, and i think that’s a very powerful social way to know more about people and places.
Also I’m in love with nature, and mountains specially. I was a scout for 13 years so I camped and hiked a lot. I’m beggining to climb outdoor too. I need to leave the city very often and detox in the mountains.
I dreamt of travelling all my life. I am too curious I think. When I was 8, i saw a documentary about Nepal, buddhist monks and Kumaris that made me freack out. When I was a teenager, I read the comic book “Persepolis” of Marjane Sartrapi -which explains the islamic revolution in Iran- and i freacked out too. Later, came “Into the wild” book in my life, and began the nights reading traveller’s blogs about travelling the entire world, and women travelling alone. I was growing up in ambitious, but I had a lot of fears: what about my job? / I don’t want to worry my family / what will happen to me, as a woman alone? / and blablabla, a lot of estereotypes and prejudices.
Finally I went for it and, in 2016, I spend a month in Nepal, walking around the country and specially Annapurnas. And, right now, I’m doing my first solo trip trough a part of the ancient Silk Route for aproximately 3 months. Nowadays I’m in Central Asia, discovering their wonderful hospitality, architecture and culture.
So, I am accomplishing my dreams, little by little. I am into the wild with my backpack and my low-budget, living new experiences and meeting new people. (And improving my english!)
I’m very very happy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m quite new in CS. At the moment I can't host because I’m travelling, but I would love to do it when I return to Barcelona.
I’m here because I think it’s a very incredible, intense and truly way to meet a new place. Nobody knows a place better than the persons who live in. I think it’s the best way to do a cultural exchange also and to prove that solidarity and altruism exist in this consumist and capitalist world.

And absolutely nerd of Lord of the Rings (books and movies), Star Wars and Harry Potter (mostly the books). My favourite book is “The Shadow of the Wind”, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
If you want to know all my books, music and movie references, you have to meet me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Doing my first solo trip through islamic countries. (So, defying all the occidental media opinions and sensationalism)
-Hiking to 5.500m at Annapurna’s and seeing the top of the world.
-I have whatched The Lord and the Rings more than 20 times, does it count?
