About Me

MY JOURNEY

Around the middle of May this year (2024) I decided to shut down my business, sublease my apartment, and hit the road for a 10-week car camping road trip through the United States! I have many ideas but no settled plans for what to do after that. The road will show me the way.

Since I will be travelling through the American Southwest in July, I know I will need a few places to stay that have air conditioning (and parking) available so I can get good rest. I have the budget to purchase accommodations as needed; however the point of this adventure is to meet new people, try new things, and expand my life experience!

My route is a 7,000-9,000 mile loop through Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and back through Michigan's Upper Peninsula! It's a lot of ground to cover, even with ten weeks to do it.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Life is endlessly fascinating and delightful, even when it hurts.

People are inherently complicated and most of us try to do the right thing most of the time.

Love is love. I am on the rainbow spectrum and respect all sexual/romantic expressions, lifestyles, and relationships between consenting adults. I am pansexual and practiced a polyamorous lifestyle before undertaking my current year of self-focus.

I spent the first 35 years of my life feeling separated and searching for unity. I endeavor to spend the next phase of life existing in unity and searching for other beings who light me up. I am in love with myself, humans, our planet, and all of its creatures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting and connecting with new people. Each new friend I make expands my perspective and helps me grow. There is a depth of knowing that cannot be captured without extended time in a place; let me borrow what you love about your home.

Interests

*Food fascinates me. In the past I worked on superyachts as a cook/stewardess and I've worked in various restaurant/catering gigs. I love cooking a variety of cuisines (American, Mediterranean, Asian fusion, Middle Eastern, Mexican...). While I am not vegetarian, I tend toward a whole foods plant-based diet. I love a good culinary challenge and enjoy creating delicious and nostalgic dishes for those with food allergies, restrictions, or limitations. My 3 dozen or so spices are traveling with me to help me continue expanding my cooking adventures! I love visiting local coffee roasters and learning about their craft.

*I try to live a healthy lifestyle. My hope is to hike, walk, sail, dance (Ecstatic Dance, anyone?!), and climb my way around the country. I would love to deepen my yoga practice as well. I am a licensed massage therapist but have a shoulder injury I'm resting, so unfortunately I can't offer massage right now. Sailing is a hobby I hope to get back into: I had a 22-foot sailboat a few years back. I may even shift back into boat life after this trip is over.

*I am a morning person. Expect to see the yawns come on around 10pm. I wake up by 6 most mornings. This started as a girl on my family farm and is a habit I can't seem to kick. Engaging conversation about business, social issues, aliens, psychedelics, religion/spirituality, or philosophy may keep me going strong until 1-2am on occasion.

*Music!! I play the harp, piano, violin, etc... I bought a lyre for this trip. I was classically trained on the violin and piano and self-taught on the harp. I mostly play hymns, love songs, holiday tunes, and folk songs. Check out my videos: https://www.youtube.com/@sarahsuddarth1657/videos

Music, Movies, and Books

Indubious // The Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) // Thick Face, Black Heart

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped a doctor avoid hip surgery with one 30-minute massage session.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook with people to teach or learn new dishes. Let's visit your favorite coffee shop, park, neighborhood, or restaurant. I might ask to write a short story about you for my blog, if the fancy strikes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook up a pretty good meal. I will tell you that your first responsibility is to take care of yourself. I have been told I am a storyteller.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, Canada, Mexico, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Martin (French part), Sint Maarten (Dutch part)
