About Me

University lecturer and a professional writer based at St Petersburg, Russia. I do not judge people by the way they want to have fun. I like jokes (I even try to make some myself). I live with my cat (yes it's just too lonely sometimes). I travel alone. No girlfriends, insane relatives or imaginary friends. Not anymore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like getting into real life of a country. I'm not a tourist, I am a scientist.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm quite an open minded person. Music from Dire Straits, Astor Piazzolla and Led Zeppelin to Chemical Brothers and Taylor Swift. I love books by Vonnegut and Joyce, but Harry Potter is also fine for me. Visual masterpieces are things like True Detective and films by Inarritu and Sam Mendes, but spending time with Nicholas Cage is always accepted.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got drunk and stoned in Tehran and then got lost. That was a decent piece of amusement .

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a practicing university lecturer, my specialty is International Relations and intercultural communications. My academic interest is international social anthropology. I would like to learn every possible detail of every place I visit to implement those things later in my articles and books. I can also teach to cook some Russian Cuisine dishes and tell you some stories I have experienced. Usually people enjoy these things, but still no guarantee: maybe l'm dull and too old for pure madness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, besides the things I have already mentioned, I can answer all your questions about Russia (professionally), teach you how to drink with different traditions of consumption culture. Actually, it is almost anything you want. I'm a writer and a scientist and always opened to crazy ideas besides kidnapping and watching Adam Sandler movies.
