Overview
About Me
One day I left my job as a school teacher, my home and went travelling around the world. Travelling used to be just my dream but now it has become my life.
I like people. Some people say I'm a romantic though I try to be serious. Being an artist by nature, I welcome creativity in everything. I couldn't live at one place forever.
To discover a country and its local colour trully, I prefer travelling by hitchhiking, on foot and by some other ways with my friends or alone. Usually I stay for a night at local residents and I don't use the service of a hotel or a travelagency.
I'm interested in spiritual life. Perhaps, one day I'll become a monk :) But for now I'm just travelling and trying to be myself.
I'm a vegetarian and an amateur photographer.
While travelling I'm writing at my blog (https://vk.com/road_of_heart , which is in Russian). There I share with my adventures, thoughts, true stories and photos.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here because it's a great opportunity to meet interesting people.
Interests
I like travelling. When I was a child I used to like a road atlas more than fairytales books.
I like India and everything which is connected with it. There was the time when I had lived in a Krishna Temple for half a year.
I like taking photos. Once when I was in Chine I printed a lot of photos taken by myself to sell them at the street. But my weakness for giving presents to people failed me, so I didn't sell any but gave away that pale of photos for free.
I like cooking. Sometimes you don't understand the local language. In this case the best way to make a contact with the locals is to bake a huge amoung of Russian pies.
I like singing. I used to be scared of singing but now I sing my favourite songs everytime I'm waiting for a car, which will pick me up. Perhaps one day I'll learn how to dance. :))
I like books. I'm interested in reading.
I like learning foreign languages. Though I'm not really good at it, this makes me happy. It's great to see people smilling when you speak their native language with them.
I like going on foot.
I have always been interested in musical instruments. No one ever taught me music but I used to play the ukulele, mridang (indian drum), harmonic, harmonica and even the piano.
I like nature, especially rivers.
I like being myself.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like interesting music, classical one and kirtans (chanting Hare Krishna mantra)
I seldom watch films.
My favourite book is "Journey Home" by Radhanath Swami.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once living in a holy city on the bank of the Ganga, I met a group of travelling monks. They were travelling on foot from one village to another, trying to inspire people to chant the God's names with love. They were so inspired and happy! Surprised by their courage, love and wisdom, I asked to join them. I've walked with them about 1000 km for 3 months.
Once I've almost frozen to death in the mountains in China.
I hadn't enough money for a plane ticket to India, so I went there on the ground (which is about 30 000 km).
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to smile :) Я могу научить вас улыбаться! :)
Also I can teach you taking photographs, drawing and cooking.
And of course, how to travel by passing cars.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can make a photo-session for you, draw something for you, bake a lot of pies and tell exciting stories.
I'd be very glad if I could be useful for you :)
