Overview
About Me
Hey! My name is Sergi and I'm a 35 years old boy (born in 1981) from the Basque country, a region located in the north of Spain bordering France.
I find pretty hard to define myself, but people say that I'm an extrovert person. I consider myself a very open minded and not judgemental person. Also, my values are based on being respectful to everything/everyone surrounding me. I could say the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is my Bible.
Apart from that, my interests embrace music, literature, movies, traveling, cooking (they say I am a good chef too) and SOCIALIZING. This last aspect is written in capitals since I consider that having the chance to communicate and to meet other people is essential to build up life experiences and understand the world better.
Professionally speaking, in 2007 I got graduated in dramatic arts and three years later I got my voice dubber diploma. However, I gave up performing to work managing, producing and organizing theatre plays and music events. This beautiful profession has given me the possibility to live in Canada and in Madrid and also to work in different Spanish cities like Barcelona.
Currently, I'm back at uni where I'm studying to become a primary education English teacher. This is a pending account I had with myself in my twenties and I'm very grateful to be making it real now.
As I mentioned above, I'm into arts, although not very much into the mainstream scene. Love the alternative/independent side of all artistic disciplines. Also, very interested in feminism, politics, sustainability, queer movement, indie bands from the nineties, current electronic music, authors who invite to reflect such as Patti Smith, Simone De Beauvoir, Ai WeiWei, PJ Harvey, Haneke, Kureishi, etc.
In two words, I think I'm a good boy who likes discovering new experiences and tries to give my best back to everybody.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The main reason to join this experience has to do with meeting people. When I created this page I was about to settle in Copenhagen to course a semester and do an internship in a primary school. Therefore, my plans were to visit as many cities as I could while based there. However, I never used Couchsurfing since all the trips I planned were mainly with people I met during my stay. Next destination will be Poznan, where I will spend two months mainly on my own (therefore I hope not to be shy and start using it!)
I want to be very explicit saying that I haven't signed up on this website just to save accommodation and food while traveling. As I've mentioned above, my life experience has shown me that getting mixed with locals (or people who are well settled in a city) is not an easy thing at the beginning. That is why I reckon that this option can be really good not only to get to know a place better but also not to experience it like the typical tourist would.
Finally, I want to highlight that I truly believe in cooperation and democracy. That is why I would like to help as much as I can when hosted.
