About Me

I teach Arts History, Photography and Tourism. I have traveled all over the country, and because I teach History and Tourism, I have a reasonable knowledge of my amazing country ;)
I'm married and I have a 14 years old son (at this date, 2017). I currently live in Batalha, with a World Heritage Monument (Monastery of Batalha).
I arrange and guide visits in Batalha since I moved here from North. I am a volunteer of AFS (search google ;) that offers programms for young students from all around the world.
I love a good laugh, stay in a table eating and drinking with good friends, have a beer in a pub while talking about everything (or really nothing important...;) Smiling it's not an effort to me, it's a way of life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to help someone that is traveling so he/she can find some of the things that I also love: monuments, nature, arts, gastronomy, meeting new cultures and new people. The problem in this region is mostly the transport schedules to travel and see the main places, I always people in the streets with more than just "is that way"..... Many of them are couchsurfers, so I asked myself, why not help inside the platform of couchsurfing?
I cannot host at this time, but I can help preparing your visit, welcoming you in Batalha, giving informations of some couchsurf hosters from here. I do have a busy day, but I also have 50 students of Tourism that can help ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I enjoy almost all kind of music, although I listen more to rock, grunge, punk rock, from Pearl Jam to Linkin Park. I love the 90's most famous rock bands and some new ones, Offspring, Greenday, Nickelback....
Ok, I must confess I don't have patiente to movies based on real life... When I see movies I want to get away, so I prefer sci-fi or adventure/fantasy /epic movies, like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and animation movies (from Shrek to Ice Age!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Athough I have lot's of storys , to be honest my most amazing thing was becoming a father... I know that it is not what you would expect to read here, you want to find a story where I climed a huge mountain alone at night, or that I have saled in a small boat an entire ocean, but, trully? Helping to "make" a life, being part of is growing, opening is vision to make this world a better place...
But to help you with a story, I always said to me that before traveling outside the country, I should know my country. So one year, I decided to hitchhike and I traveled alone all over Portugal. One night, the camping was to far, and I slept in a bar balcony in the beach. Very windy, but the sky was very clear. A street dog came to me to eat the rest of my burguer, and stayed for the night. At that night, I wrote in my journey diary: "room with best view, best dinner, best company, best room service."
