About Me

Edited March 16: Due to covid-19 (Coronavirus) I will not be able to host travellers until April or May, just for prevention

Edited March 9: You are free to send me a request and I’ll answer, but please, if I accept the request do not assume you can just question they way I experience couchsurfing. It is a pity some people believe this is a free hotel

Note: Read it all, there is a password

My Name is Sergio and I am an English Teacher in a school. I am from the south I am currently living in Santiago. I would like you to take your time to read my profile, because some people do not do it, so I can tell I just host people for max 3-4 days, do not hesitate and send a request. Most of the time I am available for hosting. As I work during weekdays, sometimes I am not available for hanging out, but in the evening a good conversation is always acceptable.
I made the mistake at some point of hosting people with less than 3 references and they were rude and disrespectful. I am not the type of guy who ruins profiles in Couchsurfing, because that is not the CS spirit, so if I don’t like it, I don’t write a reference, simple as that! I try to give my guests a comfortable stay, because I know how tiring is travelling, so if you want to sleep, just do it! I am not going to interfere in your plans :)
I consider myself an out-going person, I am very talkative so if you think I’m talking too much, just stop me. I have been living on my own since I entered to University, so I am independent now and responsible, most of the time I am concerned of my friends, and in this case, of my guests (just like a mum is haha) I prefer spontaneous activities if I am in the mood as I am a teacher in a school just for boys (yes, there still exist these ones here in Chile) because I do the same with my students, do not like too much structured things!

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy your life as much as possible, not matter what happens, do it anyway!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe this is a great opportunity to know about different cultures, customs and traditions. I am here because since I went to the UK to live for a year, I started to travel and I loved it! Travelling world is so interesting, so if I can help someone in terms of accommodation, I’ll do it.
Sharing experiences and of course, make contacts

Music, Movies, and Books

Music  In terms of music, I am very strange. I listen to different genres, but I love EuroPop mostly. I am big fan of Eurovision Song Contest since 2010, so most of my playlist is full of these ones. I love also music in different languages apart from English and Spanish, for example: Russian, Swedish, Polish, Danish, Greek and some others.
Books I love reading and writing, I have a collection of English Books and I want more. I prefer novels than poetry, if they are about horror or thrillers, bring them all!
Movies Horror films, drama sometimes, comedy all the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent New Year’s Eve in Edinburgh at the bottom of the castle, freezing but so much fun.
In London, after of having walked for 4-5 hours, I met a homeless couple, I bought them some food and drinks, and we spent half an hour talking about life. I try to do the same every time I travel, meet locals, real ones, if they are in need, why not helping them?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can offer a quiet place for sleeping, it is not big, but enough for feel like home! Friendship, of course. As I said before, I work during weekdays, so if I have food stored you can feel free to cook, or we can cook together and share a meal.
