About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a transhumanist, anti-indoctrination and animal rights activist. I am busy founding a forward-looking political party in Spain, Alianza Futurista (Futurist Alliance).

I am a keen observer of scientific advances and technological evolution, and I try to contribute to the important conversations taking place in the fields of biotechnology, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence, while bringing the conversations to the wider public via my political work and activism. I am also a student of cultural evolution.

I am a physicist by training, but a lot of my work revolves around video production and book publishing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet fun people, make friends, etc. while we all travel around the world. It's a fun concept. And it helps many people out. Hotel costs are ridiculous.

Interests

I consider myself a futurist/transhumanist activist, an anti-indoctrination activist, and an animal rights activist. I defend people's right to self-determination and indefinite life extension, as our technological capabilities come online to achieve much longer lifespans than provided by nature.

I am interested in rapidly accelerating technologies, such as nanotechnology, biotechnology and AI... their potential near-term impact, the dangers that come with them, desirable vs. undesirable ways to implement and democratize their use and benefits, and what we can do to curve them so that they are a safe and positive development in our evolution. I am interested in deep reforms to our political systems and our global geopolitical makeup (and our current standards of global governance), in order to make our societies safer, more resilient and just... for both humans, and other animals.

I am interested in good music (particularly modern jazz, funk and fusion), good films (fiction and non-fiction) and books (mostly non-fiction).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent 10 years in the US, away from my family in Spain, from the time I turned 18 until I was almost 28.

I went to college at the University of Miami (physics/math), then studied film/video production at New York University. I worked in Miami for a couple of years, and started a sound/music production company in Atlanta and New York for a few years. I also took acting classes for a year at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York.
